I need tactics for both a Toon Deck and a Guardian Deck. Looking forward to making the two decks but before I go to tourney I wnt to make sure there at their best standards. I go by the ban-list. I also need to get a list of what each individual guardian does.
Thanks,
GhostFox
A nice tactic I plan on using in my Toon deck is Emergency Provisions.
Play Toon World and set Provisions. Then next turn, if your opponent tries to take out your Toon World and KO your Toons, activte Provisions; save your Toons, gain some Life Points.
yes, running a lot of cards that would be helped by emergency provisions would be a good move. i forget the combos, but there were a lot of them. either way, provisions is an important move in a toon deck with all the LP you'll be losing. saving your big monsters is KEY in this strategy.
run scapegoats to tribute of course, maybe a metamorph incase you draw dead, and magic/trap destruction as well as waboku over monster destruction, because his monsters won't be able to save him anyway.
Well i may suggest some cards that can help ... First of all if u are not lucky to draw from the first hand The toon world or the Pyramid u can use Magical Merchant its a good monster for defense and draw the trap/spell card u need faster ..... Other cards that will help are Dark Mimic LV1 and Darm Mimic LV3 but they are 2 monsters that can be destroied easyly so u should have some sort of protection from destroing them (Sword Of Revealing light) but the draw from the 2 little Boxes is insane ! And ofcorse Pot Of Greed and Gracefull (RecklessGreed if u want) . For Protection your Toon World/Pyramid i suggest Magic Drain or Spell Shield Type-8 or Magic Jammer and one more TIP for the toons When it is played Gaiant Trunade the Toon Monsters arent dead coz the toon world spell card isnt destroyed so u can use the gaiant trunade to save your monsters ( but it is a cost of 1000 live and u may be jammered) Thats all for now ^^
OMG! YOU ARE ALL BUFFONS! (no offence meant or anything, and i will apolagise if you want me to, but I'm just shocked at this)
If you need toon tactics, come to me! Like waldo with fiends, I'm the toon master, so :P
Well, take a look at this. And if the link dosent work, this is what it says:L
Hello to one and all viewing this thread. Well, lets get down to business. As my member title suggests, I am "The Toon Master". I am here to share my Toon expertise with everyone on Realm Central. Toon decks are not one of the more popular decks, but with the release of DB2 on its way, I think they will become vary Popular, but it will take away the uniqueness of those who all use Toon decks now and people will say "Oh a Toon deck, he/ she is only doing that because everyone else is". Well anyone who is making a Toon deck, I am here to help! If this thread doesn’t help you, then PM me for more advice.
First some rules:
Toons, no matter HOW they are summoned, count as Special Summons. You can tribute anything to summon them, but you must remember that they count as Special summoned by their own effect. So, for example, you can't tribute Kaiser Seahorse to summon Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon, because Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon is a Special summon that uses tributes, NOT a tribute summon. You can't Special summon Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon or Manga Ryu-Ran by the effect of flute of Summoning Dragon because Flute of Summoning Dragon Special summons Monsters, but Toon Monsters can only Special Summon themselves by their own effect.
Once a Toon Monster is Special summoned correctly, it can be revived if Toon world exists on your side of the field.
Toon World must be DESTROYED for it to destroy all Toon Monsters on the field. Returning it to your hand (Giant Trunade) or SENDING (Emergency Provisions) it to the graveyard by an effect will NOT cause Toon Monsters to be destroyed.
If one Toon World, on either players side of the field is destroyed, ALL Toon Monsters on BOTH side of the field are destroyed.
500 LP is the cost of attacking with a Toon Monster, whether directly or to a Monster and whether the attack connects or not, you must STILL pay 500 LP to attack.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Toon Deck~
Toon Decks are especially good when facing a Chaos Deck [Envoys] due to the lack of Monster destruction. In the right hands, a Toon deck is deadly and can win the duel in a few turns.
Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon~
ATK ~ 3000. DEF ~ 2500. Attribute ~ Light. Type ~ Dragon/ Toon. Set ~ MRL, DB1, SDP.
Text: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned while “Toon World is on your side of the field. You can Special Summon this monster from your hand, but Tributes are required for monsters of Level 5 or more. This card cannot attack in the turn that it is Summoned. Unless you pay 500 Life Points, this monster cannot attack. When “Toon World” on the field is destroyed, this card is also destroyed. If your opponent doesn’t control a Toon Monster, this card can attack your opponents Life Points directly. If a face-up Toon Monster is on your opponents side of the field, you must select the Toon Monster as an attack Target.
The most powerful Toon. Need I say more?
Toon Summoned Skull~
ATK ~ 2500. DEF ~ 1200. Attribute ~ Dark. Type ~ Fiend/ Toon.
A vary good Toon, especially when use din combination with Cost Down, you could SPECIAL summon 3 of the in one turn without a tribute.
Manga Ryu-Ran~
ATK ~ 2200. DEF ~ 2600. Attribute ~ Fire.
Basically never include this Toon unless you have to, it must be the worst ever!
Toon Gemini Elf~
ATK ~ 1900. DEF ~ . Attribute ~ Earth. Type ~ Spellcaster/ Toon. Set ~ DL6, DB2.
Text: This card cannot attack during the turn that it is Normal Summoned. Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned. When "Toon World" on the field is destroyed, this card is also destroyed. If "Toon World" is on your side of the field and your opponent does not control a Toon Monster, this card can attack your opponent's Life Points directly. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, your opponent discards 1 card randomly from his/her hand.
This card will revolutionise Toon decks! You don't need Toon World don the field to summon it, and when your opponent looses LP as a result of battle with this card they discard a card from their hand, but unfortunately you need Toon World on the field for it to attack Directly and it is still destroyed when Toon World is.
Toon Mermaid~
ATK ~ 1400. DEF ~ 1500. Attribute ~ Water. Type ~ Aqua.
Nice even ATK and DEF points, quick to summon, good card all together.
Toon Goblin Attack Force~
ATK ~ 2300. DEF ~ 0000. Attribute ~ . Type ~ Warrior/ Toon. Set ~ DB2.
Text: This Monster can’t attack during the turn it is Summoned. If your Toon World is destroyed, this Monster is destroyed. If you have Toon World on the Field and your opponent doesn’t control any Toon Monsters, this Monster can attack directly. If this Monster attacks, it is switched to DEF mode at the end of the Battle Phase, and its position can’t be changed during your next turn.
Powerful Toon, but with the same weakness as the normal GAF, I would recommend it as when you are finished with it you can use Mystik Wok on it and gain a nice 2300 Life Points.
Toon Dark Magician Girl~
ATK ~ 2000. DEF ~ 1700. Attribute ~ Dark. Type ~ Spellcaster/ Toon. Set ~ DB2.
Text: This Monster can only be Summoned if you have Toon World in play. If your Toon World is destroyed, so is this card. If your opponent does not control any Toon Monsters, this Monster can attack your opponent directly. If your opponent does control any Toon Monsters, this Monster must choose a Toon Monster as the target of an attack. Increase this Monster’s ATK strength by 300 for each Dark Magician and Magician of Dark Chaos (the Ritual Monster) in each player’s Graveyards.
One of the best Toon monsters, I would recommend it far more than Toon Summoned skull, which takes a turn before it can attack, you can inflict 4000 points with this card on the second turn opposed to a meger 2500 with Toon Summoned Skull on the second turn.
Toon Cannon Soldier~
ATK ~ 1400. DEF ~ 1300. Attribute ~ Dark. Type ~ Machine Toon. Set ~ DB2.
Text: This Monster can’t attack during the turn it’s Summoned. If your Toon World is destroyed, so is this card. If you have a Toon World in play, and your opponent doesn’t control any Toon Monsters, this Monster can attack your opponent directly. You may sacrifice one Monster on your side of the Field to inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent.
Toon Masked Sorcerer~
ATK ~ 900. DEF ~ 1400. Attribute ~ Dark. Type ~ Machine/ Toon. Set ~ DB2.
Text: This Monster can’t attack during the turn it’s Summoned. If your Toon World is destroyed, this Monster is destroyed. If you have Toon World on the Field and your opponent doesn’t control any Toon Monsters, this Monster can attack directly. If this Monster does damage to your opponent, Draw one card.
Combined with Solemn Wishes, its a free attack with your Toon Dragon each turn!
Fire Princess~
ATK ~ 1300. DEF ~ 1500. Attribute ~ Fire. Type ~ Pyro. Set ~ LON, DB1.
Text: Inflict 500 points of Direct Damage to your opponents Life Points each time you increase your own Life Points.
Hopefully in a Toon deck you will be doing a lot of healing, so this card is a vary effective burner.
Zolga~
ATK ~ 1700. DEF ~ 1200. Attribute ~ Earth. Type ~ Fairy. Set ~ DCR.
Text: The controller of this card increases his/her Life Points by 2000 Points when this card is offered for a successful tribute summon or set.
Summon it, and offer it in the same turn for a Toon Summoned Skull and not only get a powerful Toon on the field, but gain 2000 Life points, that is 4 free Toon attacks.
Grandora~
ATK ~ . DEF ~ . Attribute ~ . Type ~ . Set ~ IOC.
Text:
The same. Summon it and gain 1000, then offer it for Toon Summoned Skull and you don’t ever loose the 2000 that you normally would if it was attacked.
Spirit Reaper~
ATK ~ . DEF ~ . Attribute ~ . Type ~ . Set ~ PGD.
Text:
Great staler. If you are low on Life Points use that to hold off your opponent for a few turns at least. It has drawbacks though, if your opponent gets Airknight onto the field then you are basically screwed unless you pull a Toon Summoned Skull or another 5-6 star monster.
Magician of Faith~
ATK ~ 300. DEF ~ 400. Attribute ~ Light. Type ~ Spellcaster. Set ~ MRD, DB1, others.
Text: Flip: Select 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard. Add the selected card to your hand.
Simply to get your Toon World/ other Spells back from the Graveyard.
Nimble Momonga~
ATK ~ 1000. DEF ~ 100. Attribute ~ Earth. Type ~ Beast. Set ~ DB1, MRL, TP4.
Text: When this card is sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle, increase your Life Points by 1000 points. You can also Special Summon up to 2 "Nimble Momonga" cards from your deck to your side of the field in face-down Defence Position. Then shuffle your Deck.
A swarming monster which will not only protect you from 3 attacks but it will give you 3000 Life Points when it is attacked and sent to the graveyard.
Tornado Bird~
ATK ~ . DEF ~ . Attribute ~ . Type ~ . Set ~ LON, TP5.
Text:
Use this if you have trouble finding Giant Trunade or Emergency Provisions. You return 1 Toon World instead of all your cards which you may need for protection this turn and get rid of an opponents Magic/ Trap card.
Thousand-Eyes Restrict~
ATK ~ 0000. DEF ~ 0000. Attribute ~ Dark. Type ~ Spellcaster. Set ~ PSV, DB1, DL2.
Text: "Relinquished" + "Thousand Eyes Idol"
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, other monsters cannot change their Battle Positions or attack. Select 1 monster on your opponents side of the field and equip it with this card (this effect can only be used once per turn and can only equip 1 monster at a time to this card). The ATK and DEF of this card become the same amounts as the monster equipped to this card. If this card is destroyed as a result of battle, the equipped monster is destroyed instead.
A GREAT stall card, I use on all the time now, I would prefer to fuse it with Polymerization but Metamorphosis is so popular, and it works so well.
Toon World~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ MRL, DB1, SDP.
Text: This card is activated by paying 1000 of your own Life Points.
Come on! How obvious is it that you are going to have a Toon World in this deck? You will need some amount of protection for this card though!
Toon Index~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ DB2.
Text: Search your Deck for a card with “Toon” in its name and add it to your Hand.
This is THE card to have in a Toon deck, or an Exodia deck for that matter. When this card is released [some time in 2005] it will REVOLUTIONISE Toon decks as we know them.
Different Dimension Capsule~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ PGD.
Text: After this card is activated, it remains face-up on the field until your 2nd Standby Phase. Select 1 card from your deck, then shuffle your Deck. Remove it from play and place it face-down. During your second Standby Phase, destroy this card and add the removed card to your hand.
There is nothing worse than having loads of Toons in your hand and not being able to use them. Use this and you will have a Toon world in no time. I think it is necessary in any good Toon deck, until Toon Index comes out in english anyway
Sebeks Blessing~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ PCJ.
Text: You can only activate this card when a monster attacks your opponents Life Points directly. Increase your Life Points by an amount equal to the Battle Damage that the monster inflicted to your opponents Life Points.
I only just thought of it as I got 2 today (stupid shop gave me PCJ cards twice, yay!). When you attack directly with Blue-Eyes Toon dragon you gain 3000 Life Points! Necessity! If you can find one
Magic Reflector~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ LOD.
Text: Select 1 Magic Card that remains face-up on your side of the field and put 1 counter on it. If the selected card is destroyed, the counter is removed instead of the card being destroyed.
Necessary for keeping Toon World on the Field.
Twin Swords of Flashing Light Tryce~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ DCR.
Text: You must send one card from your hand to the graveyard when you activate this card. A monster equipped with this card decreases its ATK by 500 points. A monster equipped with this card can attack twice during the same Battle Phase.
Your Toon looses 5oo Attack Points, but it gains the ability to attack twice in the same turn. Need I say more?
Scapegoat~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ SDJ.
Text: When this card is activated you cannot summon any monster in the same turn (Including Flip Summon and Special Summon). Place 4 "Sheep Tokens" (Beast-Type/ Earth/ 1 Star/ ATK 0/ DEF 0) in Defence Position on your side of the field. The tokens cannot be used as a Tribute for a Tribute Summon.
Since Toons are considered a special summon you can offer these for the big Toons.
Cost Down~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ DCR.
Text: Discard 1 card from your hand. Downgrade all Monster cards in your hand by 2 Levels until the end of the turn this card is activated.
A level 6 Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon, no tribute for Toon Summoned Skull. Once again, need I say more?
Giant Trunade~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ MRL, SDJ, DB1.
Text: Return all Spell and Trap cards to their respective owners hands.
Returns your Toon World to your hand and rids the field of your opponents traps leaving a clear path for a direct attack and ridding you of the Toons weakness.
Emergency Provisions~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ LOD.
Text:
Since it sends Toon World to the Graveyard, and doesn’t destroy it, you get 1000 Life Points and your Toons loose their weakness.
Poison of the Old Man~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ MFC.
Text: Select and Activate one of the following effects:
Increase your Life Points by 1200 points.
Inflict 800 points of Direct Damage to your opponents Life Points
You gain 1200 Life points? Yay! And there is the added option of Burn if you ever need it.
Spell Economics~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ AST.
Text: You do not have to pay Life Points to activate a Spell card.
I prefer to use Numinous Healers or Life Absorbing machines but this lets you keep the Life Points that you would have otherwise lost by playing Toon World.
Gravekeepers Servant~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ PGD.
Text:
A good card for buying time since Toon decks are so slow to get up and running.
Vengeful Bog Spirit~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ LON.
Text: All monsters on the field cannot attack in the same turn that they were summoned (That includes Flip Summon and Specail Summon).
Gives all monsters on the entire field the same ability as Toons, they cannot attack on their first turn on the field, it will give you 1 turn to set up a defence for your opponents next turn.
Soul Release~
Type ~ Spell. Set ~ MRD, DB1, SDP.
Text: Select up to 5 cards from either your or your opponents Graveyard and remove them from the current duel.
Due to the lack of your opponents monsters being destroyed your opponents chaos deck would not have much fodder, so this gets rid of the few monsters that you might have sent to the Graveyard.
Judgment of Anubis~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ DCR, RDS.
Text: Discard 1 card from your hand to negate the activation and the effect of a Spell Card controlled by your opponent that includes the effect of destroying Spell and/ or Trap Cards on the field and destroy it. Then, you can destroy 1 face-up monster on your opponents side of the field and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster.
The most powerful weapon in a Toon deck (IMO). When your Toon World is targeted by a spell card then not only is the effect negated but your opponent looses a monster and its Attack Points are subtracted from their Life Points.
Toon Defence~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ DB2.
Text: Whenever a Toon Monster of Level 4 or less is attacked, the controller of that Toon Monster may choose to receive that attack directly, instead.
An interesting card, but it is not too good at-all.
Ultimate Offering~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ SDP, SDY.
Text: At the cost of 500 Life Points per monster, a player is allowed an extra Normal Summon or Set.
This will be a handy card when DB2 is released. For the Class C Toon monsters, since they are counted as normal summons, you will be able to summon an extra one for just 500 extra LP! Not too bad IMO.
Numinous Healer~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ PSV, DB1.
Text: You can activate this card when you take damage to your Life Points. Increase your Life Points by 1000 points. In addition, increase your Life Points by 500 points per card if there are additional "Numinous Healer" cards in the Graveyard.
When you attack with a Toon or use Toon world you gain Life points. Not bad, but I still prefer to use Life Absorbing Machine.
Life Absorbing Machine~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ LOD.
Text:
You gain 1/2 of the life points that you offered. If you have 3, even better. I use Dark Elf with this card so next turn I get 1500 extra LP.
Robbin Zombie~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ IOC.
Text:
When you attack your opponent directly they must discard the top card of their deck and 1 card from their hand. IMO vary good cards.
Robbin Goblin~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ MRD.
Text:
When you attack your opponent directly they must discard the top card of their deck and 1 card from their hand. IMO vary good cards.
Aqua Chorus~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ PCK.
Text:
If you are going to have 2-3 of the same Toons in your deck then run 1 of these. They get an extra 500 Attack Points.
Magic Jammer~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ MRD, DB2, others.
Text:
A good protector from Heavy Storm and Harpies Feather Duster. It not only could protect your Toon World but some other vital cards that could be lying-in wait!
Magic Drain~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ PSV, DB1.
Text:
A good protector from Heavy Storm and Harpies Feather Duster. It not only could protect your Toon World but some other vital cards that could be lying-in wait!
Solemn Wishes~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ PSV, DB1.
Text:
I prefer not to use them but they are handy if you draw pot of greed. That is 500 during the drew phase and another 500 for Pot of Greed!
The Spell Absorbing life~
Type ~ Trap. Set ~ MFC.
Text:
Hopefully you will have loads of Toons, which are effects and since you will be attacking directly your opponent might too. You can gain a maximum of 4000 in one turn!
Toon Gemini Elf, along with Toon Cannon Soldier, Toon Goblin Attack Force and Toon Masked Sorcerer are classified as Class C Toons. Class C Toons DO NOT require Toon World to be on the field to be summoned, HOWEVER, they will be considered NORMAL Summons and they still cannot attack the same turn and if their other effects require Toon World to be on your side of the field, then they cannot be used either until Toon World is played on your side of the field (you cannot use the opponent's Toon World). They also do not require 500 LP to attack like with Class A Toons.
Toon World can be played AFTER Class C Toons are summoned and allow them to use their effects, however, if it's destroyed, the Toons will still be destroyed because that's part of their effect, despite that they were not summoned while Toon World was in play already.
The only Class B Toon is Toon Dark Magician Girl which requires Toon World to be summoned, but she CAN attack the same turn she's summoned AND she DOES NOT require LP payment to attack.
Class A Toons are the one's already out (Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon, Manga Ryu-Ran, Toon Mermaid and Toon Summoned Skull)
Type C Toons CAN attack directly if Toon World is on the field, but you can have them attack directly by another means (Shooting Star Bow, Secret Path to the Treasure, etc) However, since Toons CANNOT Attack directly while a Toon is on your opponent's field, you would be unable to attack directly even by Star Bow or Secret Path.
And to recap the Toon types:
Type-A Toon Monsters - Toon Monsters released in the Magic Ruler Set - Toon Mermaid, Toon Summoned Skull, Toon Dragon Egger (Manga Ryu-Ran), Blue Eyes Toon Dragon.
- Can’t be Summoned unless you have Toon World in play.
- Summoning these Toon Monsters count as a Special-Summon.
- Unable to attack on the Turn they are Summoned.
- Require you to pay 500 LP for it to attack.
- When Toon World is destroyed, the Monster is destroyed, as well.
- Are able to attack the opposing player directly, unless the opponent also controls any Toon Monsters.
Type-B Toon Monsters - Toon Monsters from the Japanese DM6 game. (Toon Dark Magician Girl)
- Same as Type-A Toon Monsters, except for 2 differences.
- Can attack the turn it’s Summoned.
- Does not require an LP-payment in order to attack.
Type-C Toon Monsters - Toon Monsters that were first released in the Japanese Pegasus Structure Deck, and not before-hand. (These include Toon Gemini Elf, Toon Cannon Soldier, Toon Masked Sorcerer, and Toon Goblin Strike Team)
- Can be Summoned without the need for Toon World to be in play.
- Summoning these Toon Monsters count as a Normal Summon.
- Unable to attack during the Turn they are Summoned.
- If Toon World is destroyed, the Monster is destroyed, as well. (Though Toon World doesn’t have to be in play at all for these Toons)
- Able to attack the opponent directly if you have Toon World in play.
- Unable to attack the opponent directly if the opponent also controls Toon Monster(s).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that is all that I can think of off the top of my head. If you have any questions about Toons or any Toon Support cards then just PM me and I will make some changes!
I hope that provided you with a bit of help, although I havent gotten around to finishing it yet, so sorry! :(
actaully toon defense isnt that bad. if u combine it with spirit barrier (like the astral + spirit barrier combo), then ur level 4 toons are safe, as long as u keep the two cards on the field. :) (if u dont know the spirit + astral barrier combo, search th forums :))

I built this deck with every Toon World-affected monster that's been released in English.
Guardian deck(Raphael-themed):
2 Guardian Grarl
2 Guardian Kayest
1 Guardian Tryce
1 Guardian Ceal
3 Arsenal Summoner
3 Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu
2 Cyber Raider
1 Sangan
1 Fiber Jar
2 Gravity Axe
2 Rod of Silence
2 Twin Swords of Flashing Light
1 Shooting Star Bow
2 Fairy of the Spring
2 Monster Reincarnation
1 Painful Choice
1 Pot of Greed
1 Graceful Charity
3 Reload
1 Premature Burial
1 Astral Barrier(like I said, it's Raphael-themed)
1 Ring of Destruction
1 Mirror Force
1 Call of the Haunted
2 Rope of Life
For Guardians, Abuse Guardian Ceals effect. Have 3 of her, 3 of her bow and eaquip the bow to an oppents monsters to weaken it. Then mass eaquips to her and destroy everything w/ the effect and attack directly. Use Arssonal Summoner on Ceal to get her fast and Use IronBlacksmith whatever for the bow.
Remember the cards must be equiped to Guardian Ceal to use her effect so Collected Power to ##### them.
Also try to get Guardian Bauo, and attack a sheep token. He gets 1000ATK for every monster he kills. Twin sword of Flashing Light - Tryce will help him get beefed in 1 turn. He also negates effects of monsters he kills. The eaquip for him isn't to bad.
Guardian Grarl...owns...actualy hes ok at best, his axe however, is amazing!
Guardian Elma was a nice card but cause her dagger is banned theirs no was to "summon" her, thus no way to gain her effect.
Guardian Tryce is best used by sacing oppents monsters. You can then special summon that monster(perminatly) to your side of the feild when Thryce dies.
Guardian Angle Joan, I guess shes a guardian but doesn't fit the deck will, and at 2 trbutes...ehhh nah
Just remeber Guardian Ceal = Goddesse of the deck so get her asap! Low on eaquips? Fairy fo the Spring gets those back from the graveyard, but cannt use them turn they are retrived.
