Help needed to build an Archfiend Deck (This means especially you Waldo)
Ok I've decided to go with an Archfiend deck on my area's Regionals Championships
I spent the entire month to gather Archfiend Cards but now I need some serious help, I've spent some time practicing and it's clear the Archfiends have potential already.
Here's what I currently have but one of my friend is helping me gathering more Archfiend Cards so there are more on the way,
x2 Terrorking Archfiend
x3 Infernalqueen Archfiend
x3 Vilepawn Archfiend
x3 Desrook Archfiend (I think 2 should be enough yes?)
x3 Darkbishop Archfiend
x1 Skull Archfiend of Lightning
x3 Pandemonium
x2 Terraforming
x1 Mazera DeVille
x1 Warrior of Zera
x3 Axe of Despair
x3 Archfiend Roar
x3 Battle Scarred
x1 Falling Down
x1 Archfiend Soldier
x3 Shadowknight Archfiend
x3 Checkmate
It's already been a pain to gather all these Archfiend Cards, from what I heard they're out of production and I have to go to the duelists who have no use for them and trade them for something else, the Archfiend Soldier and the Terraformings have been the toughest to get in fact.
The rest weren't that bad, it was to find them that was tough.
Anyway can you please help me putting together an Archfiend Deck that can be a surprise in time for May 14?
It's pretty urgent that I complete this deck ASAP so I master it.
I'm no Archfiend Specialists but Fiends beatdown were my first decks.
I also need info on how to put Terrorking on the field ASAP
A combo I thought about yet wondered if it was legal though.
Pandemonium is in play
Terroking gets killed in battle and you have no Desrook, because of Pandemonium you can get one in your deck then you dump it in your graveyard and another Terrorking is Special Summoned straight from your deck
Hi there. Well, I'm no Archfiend specialist myself (despite my devotion to the Dark Master, I just can't manage to get those Archfiends to work for me...), but I CAN offer some advice.
First, I suggest you read waldo's article on Archfiends here, which will definitely give you a good start.
I would suggest reading the Fiend Tactics Thread, but it would probably take you a year to find the pages with Archfiend tactics LOL :p
I'm sure waldo will be able to give you some proper Archfiend advice, so I'll just stick to neutral comments.
Firstly, a warning, don't expect to master Archfiends in a matter of hours or a few days. I've seen really great duelists play them for months and eventually give up, because they can't get them to work. Mastering Archfiends isn't easy, but is definitely full of rewards.
Secondly, always remember that, ultimately, 'Archfiend' is just a name, and does nothing to affect the type of your monsters. Archfiends in name only, they're still Fiends, and able to benefit from all the juicy Fiend support, and they'll love having the evil lord Ha Des himself at their sides. Or, as waldo suggests, you could use DNA Surgery to turn your Archfiends into whatever you want for some excellent hybrid decks.
Thirdly, I don't reccommend using Mazera. He's tricky to get out, and apart from that, his effect is a one-off thing after which he just becomes a big beatstick.
If you really feel that you need a 'big' monster consider:
Dark Master - Zorc
Attrib: Dark
Type: Fiend/Ritual/Effect
Level:8
Atk: 2700
Def: 1500
This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Contract with the Dark Master". You must also offer monsters whose total Level Stars equal 8 or more as a Tribute from the field or your hand. During your turn you can roll 1 six-sided die. If the result is 1 or 2, destroy all monsters of your opponent's side of the field. If the result is 3, 4, or 5, destroy 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field. If the result is 6, destroy all monsters on your side of the field.
Yes, he's a ritual. Yes, He's slow. But he might as well be called 'Archfiend Zorc', that dice-roll effect is just too sweet. I've used him in an Archfiend dice abuse deck, and he really is deadly.
Another thing I wouldn't reccommend in just any Archfiend deck is Gilfer. Gilfer benefits more from setups that can properly abuse his effect, if you need a big beatstick, Summoned Skull or Skull Archfiend are generally better choices.
Lastly, consider the fact that Archfiends include cards from every possible Attribute. This makes them perfect for use with Element monsters or powerful cards like Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan.
