I was readding on www.supermanhomepage.com that they were relaunching his titles starting with issue 200. How does everyone feel about this. I have liked Chuck Austern (sp) work on when he wrote "you can't be everywhere at once," and on Superman: Metropolis but still the jury's out for me.
Your thoughts is it good bad indifferent?
I am not a Superman fan...in fact, I think some of you may know that I loathe The Man of Steel. But some of these creative teams have me looking towards the future of the Man of Tomorrow. I had also heard Grant Morrison's name being mentioned for Superman too.
Action Comics: Chuck Austen
Adventures of Superman: Greg Rucka
Superman: Brian Azzarello and Jim Lee
Lex Luthor: Man of Steel # 1, by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo
Loeb and Lee are leaving Batman after the Hush storyline.
Brian Azzarello is taking over for a story arc.
Loeb and Lee did state in an interview that they would be coming back for another story arc, but it is currently (the last I knew) up in the air what the dates are for them to come back.
Oh great, the over-rated, over-hyped Lee will now bring his blend of pin-ups and splash pages to Superman. Well, looks like there's a title I will be giving up on..
well one thing this article doesn't cover is how this will impact the jla. My thoughts are that i f they don't change superman heart, and find away of attracting a new audience than i am all for it.
If what you're saying is true, about the re-vamp, then they're going to completely mess the concept up.. It will a lot of flash, large splashy panels, plus Chuck Austen's writing..
Ah, if only they could get someone like Mark Millar or Mark Waid to take over the Big 'S' Revamp -- THAT would be notable.. Maybe with someone like Tony Harris or Tim Sale to handle the art.. WOW! Now that would truly be SUPER!

actually this is directly off the superman homepage website. check out the link.
Billy Jack --
Thanks for the post. I went and checked out the full story, and now I just want to sit down and cry.. SERIOUSLY! I am so sick of the comics industry (well, specificially, the Big Two), and it's attempts to tailor-fit comics stories (hiring "fanboy wet dream" Jim Lee for "revamps") to help sell the book, rather than going with someone new and fresh, rather than a pin-up artist! And besides all that, how many times are they going to overhaul Metropolis and Supes' continuity -- weren't "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and "Zero Hour" s'posed to eradicate all existing continuity glitches? UGH! I think I am going to go pull out what little hair I currently have left...
Superman needs something to make it better. It hasn't been any good in years...decades...whatever. Jim Lee's art isn't the fan fave that is used to be. His art is actually good compared to artists that have worked on Superman in the past (Bogdanove anyone?).
I wonder if the new "regime" plans to do away with such characters as Traci-13 (whom I am actually really digging as a character), Krypto (they get rid of him, and DC is about to get a boatload of some mad a$$ed hate mail from me!), and the new Supergirl?
The problem was never really with the writers and artists. THE PROBLEM HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE EDITORIAL EDICT THAT SUPERMAN STAY THE SAME. Good writers come in and slam their head against a wall. John Byrne did a lot of great stuff, and later they just erase it. Mark Waid would kill and hide bodies to write Superman, but he would probably get the same treatment he got on Fantastic Four.
I hope I'm wrong. I hope they are serious this time. Superman himself doesn't need changing, but his world definitely needs an update. You always feel there is Metropolis, and then there is the rest of the DC Universe. Supes has been an average seller, but he can be #1 if the corporate guys will let the writers get on with it.
I haven't bought Superman in fifteen years, but Superman II is still the best super-hero film ever! I also loved his role in Kingdom Come and DK Strikes.
