Well here I am again, this time with a new card from The Lost Millenium to look at. This time let us take a look at another card that was previously Anime only, but now it has hit the land of the OCG and the TCG. This card will replace something we all lost, and may perhaps never see again. With the loss of Change of Heart most decks lost a card that could change the momentum of a duel in the same turn it was played. The probelm was that there was never much of a draw back to playing Change of Heart. Well now we have Brain Control. The text for Brain Control is brought to you by Spike & Barons' http://dmcomet.net/.
TLM-JP038
Brainwash - Brain Control -
Pay 800 lifepoints. Choose a face-up monster on opponent's field, you gain control of that
monster until the end of the turn.
Super/Ultimate Rare
Since we have lost Change of Heart there is a hole left in many decks for some added control of the field. But we have been lucky enough to get a new reincarnation of banned cards. We have seen Raigeki made into Lightning Vortex, and a weaker version of Snatch Steal in Brain Jacker. Now Change of Heart has it's chance to give birth to a new card in Brain Control.
At the mere cost of 800 Life points, you can gain control of one of your opponent's monsters. But wait, that's not all! They have also decided to throw a curve ball here by limiting it to Face Up Monsters! Kind of nice isn't it? Now we don't have to worry about our Magician of Faith being used to get back their Brain Control, D. Duo, Pot, or Graceful, like we did with Change of Heart. But we have seen a card like this before in Mind Control. The only difference between Mind Control and Brain Control is the fact that aside from clearing the field, you can ALSO Attack, and Tribute the monster you gained control of.
Now of course this card does have it's limits. With most decks running Premature Burial, and D.Duo, this card may find a home. But looking at the past, some people do not like having to pay large amounts of Life Points. Adding this to most decks seen today would bring everyone down to paying 2600 life points, this is not including using the cards multiple times. Would most players consider using this card? I think they would, we already see Creature Swap being run in 2's and 3's around the country, so I think this will find a home. Unlike Creature Swap, Brain Control gives you something, while limiting what your opponent gets in return. The trade off is not all that bad, and can actually be worth using. I think many people will grab this up, and it will be the card everyone will rush for when The Lost Millenium comes out May 28 at the Sneak Previews. Like Vortex and Phoenix, many people will probally want to trade for this card.
I would also like to add in that I think there is a high chance that this card may visit the Restricted/Limited list once it comes out. Why? It adds yet another card that allows you to take control of your opponent's monster. But unlike Mind Control, this card also lets you attack and tribute that monster off, giving you a larger advantage over your opponent. So I would enjoy this while you can, as the place where it will have the most power shall be at the Sneak Previews. Of course I could be wrong, but why would they allow the players to have 2 Creature Swaps, Snatch Steal, and 2 or 3 Brain Controls. I think if they kepts this card at more then 2 per deck it would be a nightmare until the next list re-enlinement.
Well there you have my take on this card, and it's possible uses. What do you the rest of you, the PLAYERS have to say about this card?
P.S. While Spike's and Baron's page does not state it, I do believe that this card shall be a normal Spell Card. If I am wrong feel free to correct me.
I would be suprised it get restricted to 1 per deck total like Call of the Haunted or Premature Burial. Its almost as good as the excellent Change of Heart, with a slight cost to it. I defentally know i want one to replace the void that Change of Heart left in my deck (and i think I can afford the LP cost considering I dont use Duliquent Duo (because i dont have one).
I'm not really worried about the 800 LP cost to tell you the truth. I mean, we pay it for Premature Burial, among other cards, and pay more for other things, like us Toon World players... Like me... :D
But still, 800 to get a semi CoH effect? 800 to take away their Bacon Lettuce Soldier, and make himself banish himself from the game? I'd pay it. Hell, I'd pay it if I only had 900 LP left.
I'm goinmg to get this card and Im definitely going to use it it's awesome. Yes i know it ain't a change of heart but was lightning vortex as good as raigeki? no and it still got played
i haven't seen that card before but i think it is just another good(and obviously)a great idea. You see here if monster reborn has pre mat.burial,it is the same as c.of heart and brain control.Paying 800 is not a waste.I only own jap.cards and less english .Can u trade my adhesion trap hole with fiber jar? i like jars u knnow. i like to drive my opponents through heavy duel works hehehe....
This might be a little off topic, but i think with all the realses of these new cards that only affect face up monsters (like this one), more people will play with at least a few more face down monsters (primarily flip effects, but not necisarily) I also think that this will lead to people considering playing 2 nobel man of crossout or at least 1 and sidedecking 1.... just a thought = /.... I cant wait to see what happens at the preview tourny, with the e-heros, and the rock monsters =D
First off I love this new card and it is probably going to be the Lightning Vortex of TLM and Antique Gear Golem will be the Sacred Pheonix.
Also with all of these new cards that only effect face-up monsters, I think people may actually consider main-decking a Light of Intervention or two.

One problem is the e-heros are going to such in the prerelease mainly because there won't be a polymerization in this set so it will be impossible to get out the fusions of the different e-heros. But I do think the rock monsters will be pretty good.
I dont know about yall but Im ganna use Mind control in combination with Brain control. They have 1 face up and 1 face down.. No problem mind control face down and brain control face up... its like wow.
I thought it would be CoH with an 800 lp cost... I'm disappointed, but oh well, I never really liked Change of Heart all that much(what can I say, I NEVER get the good cards when I need them...sigh).
This card doesn't surprise me. It seems like UDE will make a stupid choice for banning and come out with a clone of that card to get people to buy it. With every new set that comes out there's a remake of a similar card with a different name and slightly changed effect. Like that new levia dragon in the water structure deck. It SCREAMS emperor chaos dragon... And maybe even soon, there will be a yata clone (gasp!). Emperor has a clone and soon will the rest of the bans. Anyone see a pattern here???

Here is yet another card that screws up future creativity in decks. It's just another card that will immediately become a so-called "staple" and run in two's and three's, if it is not restricted or banned as soon as it comes out.
Why does Konami keep coming up with these ridiculous cards? There is no hope for any sort of unusual deck archetype coming out because all decks have so many slots dedicated to the numerous overpowered cards one MUST play with in order to remain highly competitve. This card is bad for the metagame, anyone can see that.
Well there is a few things wrong with that comment.
1) UDE did not make the Ban List, Konami made the Ban List.
2) Yata already has a new form, Fenrir, except that it only makes them skip the draw phase when it destroys a monster. It also has the added limit of mainly only being useful in a water deck since you have to remove 2 water monsters from the grave to summon it from the hand.
3) The orginal Levia Dragon could be considered the counter part of CED, but if you want to look at the all out effect of CED, then I suppose Neo Levia would be the counterpart.
Regen, I agree that this is not one of the best things they could have come up with, but I do not think that it will bring the downfall of the game. I would have liked to see more themed based cards like this, where type, or attribute themed decks would gain the most use out of it. But if that happened, no one would want to play the card in the first place.
undefinedthats good that they replace some of the older card but some of the newer versions suck. lets hope the don't come out with a new version of magic cylinder
I like it, but I'll probably not run it. Not because of anything, other than the cost. I already pay 800 each turn for Terrorking, 800 for Premie, 1000 for Duo, and 1000 for Seven Tools.
800 is too much for me right now. Don't get me wrong though, I'll still side deck it, juist in case.
By the way, Ocean King (or Lord. I forgot) is even more broken than people think.
Check out his text:
"Send 'Umi' on your side of the field to the graveyard. Send all cards in both players hand and side of the field to the graveyard (except this card)."
No need to tribute Daedalus to summon him!!!
Two-Headed broken jerk!
