my opponenent attacks my facedown guardian sphinx & he doesnt die. next turn can i flip sphinx face down & still flip it up to attack mode that turn? with the new ruling of monsters changing position it might be legal

That isnt really a new ruling but yes, if he was attacked in defense position and then didnt die , he is now in face up defense position. on your turn you can flip him back face down and then can flip him face up in attack mode, cause you didnt actually change his battle position until the flip to face up attack.

With the new Battle Position rulings, even if "Guardian Sphinx" got left in face-up ATTACK position, you can use GS's effect to turn it face-down defense and then flip-summon it. (as long as you didn't summon it that turn, attack or previously manually change its position)
