I think that you can pick what u wanna attack, example...
Lets say he has Spear dragon and Winged Lv10 on the field, and i have archfiend and BLS eotb.....i choose to attack his Defesnse position monster with my Archfiend, and he says that i have to declare all my attacks at the same time, and i thought i could attack different monsters at different times, like i do in all the video games....i dont think you have to declare all of them at the same time...do you or do you not, because he says you do and there fore the spear lives and winged dies, i dont get it, maybe you can or cant, can you declare an attack and then declare another, or does it have to be at the same time..?
Okay, what I think you are saying is " Do all the monsters have to attack at once" and the anwser to that is no you have to pick a monster to attack with then decide on the target of its attack and give your opponent a chance to chain to it like sak or mirror force, then after that if nothing happens you enter the damage step and damage is calulated, then you have a chance to countiue the battle phase by attacking with a different monster (or use an effect to attack twice) or go to main phase 2.
You don't have to declare all your attacks at one time. You pick which of your monster will attack and declare your attack at one of your opponent's monsters, or life points if his field is cleared. It's part of the rules. Tell your friend to read the rule book.
No you do not have to declare your attacks all at one time, in fact thats not how your susposed to do it in the first place... You Declare ONE attack at a time...
yeah...that's MTG where a player has to declare all his attacks at once. He also seems to think he can choose which monster can block for him, which is also MTG only. Different rules in this CCG.
