im running an insect deck and i played soul exchange on my brothers 4 start monster and then played insect imitation on it to get my LV 5 monster from my deck on to the field, he insists that soul exchange can only b used for tribute summons, need a lil help hear thanx

Masta P, you are wrong. Official rulings state that Soul Exchange can be used with ANY kind of tribute, no matter what the reason, so long as it tributes a monster.

(Starter Decks: Yugi, Kaiba Evolution)
Select 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field. When you offer your monster as a Tribute, offer the selected monster in place of 1 of your monsters. During this turn, you cannot conduct your Battle Phase.
