Ok it has been awhile since I have been a deck. I haven't been to a tourny since Nationals because of work and school. Plus I live in Kearney, NE there are no tournies. The closest place to a tourny is in Lincoln that I know of. I have been to a couple of tournies there and won all of them I attended. Enough with that, Cold Wave has always been in my mind a Tier 1 deck it just needed the right fine tuning to do so and a talented player to make it work. So I dusted off the Cold Waves in my box of commons and threw this little baby together. It's a work in progress....tell me what you think.....

hi there, thanks for the fix im going to try your suggestions out, I won't pretend to be an expert on Cold Wave decks but i happen to know a few strategies for it. Cold wave should probably be run with his best buddy, Anti-Spell Fragrance, this trap means that both players must first set spell cards and cant activate them until their next turn, this means that you get yet MORE time without having to worry about your opponents spells. Good to see Compulsory Evac in there as if you send an opponents monster back to their hand when they have no defense from their m/ts it can really hurt them. Try out swarm of scarabs and swarm of locusts in this deck as well, it means that you can pick off their spells when the have to set them through anti-spell and scarabs leaves them with no monster to defend themselves with as they have no m/ts to fall back on because of cold wave. Dust tornadoes are also great for picking their m/ts off so try 3.
-1 Cyber Dragon
-1 Mobius the Frost Monarch
-1 D. D. Assailant
-1 Exiled Force
-1 Cold Wave
-2 Compulsory Evactuation Device
+Morphing Jar
+1 Mystic Swordsman LV2
+Scapegoat
+2 Drop Off/Time Seal
Just because Cold Wave is in the deck, doesn't mean that the card is actually needed in threes. Some of the basic Soul Control decks I've seen don't use three Soul Exchange, so I'd try using two rather than three. It cuts back on the bad Top Decks.
Also, having multiple Tribute monsters isn't a good idea. You have five, three of which can be special summoned and don't even claim you special summon them often cause the chances of you Tribute Summoning to Special Summoning is about even anyway.
I found that the Jujitsu and Hammerheads are alike, but I'm pretty sure with Hammerhead you have to attack with it. But overall the deck is interesting and the concept isn't that bad.
I'm bored and have nothing to do. Deck looks good, really don't have any suggestions cuz I don't know what any of the new cards do or anything. The beast deck is still the tighest though!!!
FINALLY!!! Ive actually been wanting to see this kind of deck done for some time now. I playtested this on YVD in August and I came up with 2 variations, Aggro Wave Control and Cold Water Control. Cold Water used 3 Mobius, 3 Nightmare Penquin's and 2 Abyss Soldier's. Results were about the same, though since I mainly faced Aggro decks I had to do a little mdifications. Anyway, your deck looks pretty good, but heres what I would do.
- Don Zaloog
- Mystic Lvl 2
- Smashing Ground x2
- Brain Control
- Enemy Controller
- Time Seal x2
- Sakeretsu Armor x2
Basically you have TOTAL control of the back field, thus forcing them to rely on the monsters. Another Reaper to get out Mobius and stalling, a 3rd Mobius for more m/t control/Zaborg for more monster control, Spell Fragrance for when you dont have Cold Waves, making them wait an extra turn for Spells, and maing their spells more prone to m/t removal, Compulsory for chainable removal/PPWB for advanced setback type removal, and the Drains for pretty much free negation (since they prob will set most of their spells with Fragrance). Good luck, and hope you enjoy the fix!
You run a deck w/out RotA, and where it's stupid to run a lot of s/t-based defense. Thus, how is Don good here? Reaper is a 'run 2-3' card even with RotA.
Cold Wave has been a crazy but popular card ever since the birth of the Advanced Format, a.k.a., the original ban list, but as I carefully looked at your deck I say, add Kinetic Soldier [Just one] Probably the second favorite Machine monster behind Blowback Dragon.
Simply tech that Kinetic Soldier is, I'm thinking he's gonna be a winner in your deck.
Black Magic: Thanx for the rate and very interesting suggestions. I use to run the deck with Anti-Spell Fragrance, maxxed out the Cold Wave and busted out with the Compulsory Evacuation Device but this was when there was draw power and top decking was as big of an issue as it is now. I tried to make the deck with as least as many top decks as possible. Anti-Spell Fragrance is definitely needed but I still think it would hurt more than help. But I haven't tried them in the new format so I guess I could give your suggestions a try.....
LordKamon89: Thanx for returning the favor, wasn't the usual rate/fix that you give. But I guess....I don't think the deck has too much s/t defense. Anywayz thanx again f00!!
regeki404: Dude I heard you lost over the weekend with your Master of Oz/fusion deck and didn't make top 8. LoL! But thanx for the rate, if after some more playtesting it needs more than 2 Cold Wave I will put them in.
Dark_Venom: Thanx for the rate man. Kinetic Soldier might now be that bad of an idea, I just need to get some!! I traded a good six away earlier this year! :( I can get some more though!!! I will return the favor!!!
Cold Wave controls arent' so much forgotten they have just become alittle less viable aleast IMO. The best thing a cold wave deck can do now is stop things like over used Saky's and Widespreads. This generally turns to a deck with Wave splashed in. A few ideas to consider since i'm only good with Wave decks from the day, Anti-Magical Spell Fragrance to stop more magics and lock down more. You may also try out Sasuke #3 I believe it is, since he has a wave like effect aswell. Anyway its just my $0.02.
