OK, can Re-Fusion be used on Dark Paladin? I understand he can not be brought back by Reborn, etc., but will this work?

No! (Nomi) Monsters' that have the text.. "This card cannot be special summoned except by.. " cannot be special summoned from the grave with cards such as "Re-Fusion", "Premature Burial", "Monster Reborn", etc.

The generic 'never to be revived' statement has its own exception now for some Nomi monsters.

Its important to remember that we now have Level Modulation. If a Nomi Level monster such as Horus L.8, Mystic Swordsman L.6, Armed Dragon L.7, Ultimate Insect L.7, Silent Swordsman L.7, or...(who am I forgetting?) are properly summoned via the effect of their lower level partner, then they can be revived by Level Modulation.

Also note that since Level Up! special summons, regardless of requirement, the Nomi Leveler is not considered to be properly summoned, therefore not a legal target for Level Modulation.
