Alright what type of fusion summons are there? I know theres the normal Fusion cards like Sanwitch, Thousand Dragon, and Blue-Eyes Ult. but theres the kinds that say "A fusion summon of this card can only be made by the above fusion material monsters" so when it says that does that mean it cannot be summoned with metamorphasis? Then theres cards like Dark Paladin that say "This Card can only be summoned by fusion summon" so does that mean Metamorphasis and Cyberstien are out on summoning these? What about XYZ-Dragon Cannon? Can Metamorphasis and Cyberstien bring those out? Can someone tell me how each work?

If you see...

"A fusion summon of this card can only be made by the above fusion material monsters"

It means that if you use cards such as Polymerization or Fusion Gate to summon these cards (otherwise known as a Fusion Summon) you must use the fusion materials listed on the card w/o Fusion-Subs (Goddess of the Third Eye, King of the Swamp, and the Hex- Sealed's); but you can use other methods such as Metamorphosis or Cyber-Stien to summon these cards plus in the case of the Hex-Sealed Fusion cards you can use their special summon effect and their Fusion-Sub effect at the same time to summon these cards (For example, a Cyber Dragon and a Hex-Sealed light on the field can special summon Cyber Twin) due to the summon effect of them being a special summon...

"This Card can only be summoned by fusion summon"

This means that you can only summon them through Polymerization, Fusion Gate, and cards that specifically mention that they perform a fusion summon... (IE:Power Bond for Machines and Miracle Fusion for E-Hero's) These cannot be summoned by other methods and unlike the monsters above these are summonable with the use of fusion-subs just like regular fusion monsters...

As for the VWXYZ's these must be summoned by the method listed on the card no other method can be used for their initial summon and other than VW and VWXYZ these cannot be revived from the graveyard or out of play zone...

I know this is a lot of information but I hope I helped anyways... If you have anymore questions just ask... =)

Now...regular one's with nothing but the 2 material monster's needed listed on them can pretty much be Special Summoned in any way whether it be Polymerization, Fusion Gate, Cyber Stein, Summoner of Illusions, etc and you may use Fusion Substitute monster's in the Fusion Summon if you wish.

You may also use Premature Burial, Call of the Haunted, etc to Special Summon the Fusion monster back from the Graveyard or Dimension Fusion, Return from the Different Dimension, etc to bring them back from the Removed from Play area, but ONLY if you properly FUSION SUMMONED them before using Polymerization, Fusion Gate, Dragon Mirror, etc.




One's that say "A Fusion Summon of this card can only be conducted with the above Fusion Material Monsters" means that you CAN Special Summon them via Cyber Stein, Summoner of Illusions, etc but you CANNOT use Fusion Substitute Monster's in the Fusion Summoning of the card. You MUST use the one's listed specifically on the card.

You may also use Premature Burial, Call of the Haunted, etc to Special Summon the Fusion monster back from the Graveyard or Dimension Fusion, Return from the Different Dimension, etc to bring them back from the Removed from Play area, but ONLY if you properly FUSION SUMMONED them before using Polymerization, Fusion Gate, Dragon Mirror, etc.




One's that say "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon" means that you CANNOT Special Summon them with Cyber Stein, Summoner of Illusions, etc. You may use Fusion Substitute's in their Fusion Summoning if you wish to.

You may NOT use Premature Burial, Call of the Haunted, etc to Special Summon the Fusion monster back from the Graveyard or Dimension Fusion, Return from the Different Dimension, etc to bring them back from the Removed from Play area because it states that it CANNOT be Special Summoned EXCEPT by Fusion Summon meaning Polymerization, Fusion Gate or another card that says that it's a "Fusion Summon" are the absolute only ways to bring them out to the field.




One's that say "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing from play the above cards on your side of the field; then you can Special Summon this card from your Fusion Deck (You do not use "Polymerization")" can only, so far, be found on XY-Dragon Cannon, YZ-Tank Dragon, XZ-Tank Cannon and XYZ-Dragon Cannon (not on VW-Tiger Catapult or VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon)

This means that the ONLY way to Special Summon them to the field is by removing the SPECIFIC monster's from your field from Play. You may NOT remove Fusion Substitute monster's.

You may NOT use Premature Burial, Call of the Haunted, etc to Special Summon the Fusion monster back from the Graveyard or Dimension Fusion, Return from the Different Dimension, etc to bring them back from the Removed from Play area because they were not "properly Fusion Summoned" because you are not able to use Polymerization, Fusion Gate, etc to actually Fusion Summon them at all (and you may not choose to use them either).

You also cannot use Cyber Stein, Summoner of Illusions and other Special Summoning cards to bring them out since, as mentioned with the previous example, they CANNOT be Special Summoned EXCEPT by removing the right fusion material monster's from your field from play.


:Edit: just a little added note (just to be safe) is that VW-Tiger Catapult and VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon, until rules say otherwise, CANNOT be brought out by Cyber Stein, Summoner of Illusions and other Special Summoning shortcuts, but only by removing the proper Fusion Material Monster's from your field from play.

However, unlike XY, YZ, XZ and XYZ and as rules state, you CAN use Premature Burial, Call of the Haunted, Dimension Fusion, etc to Special Summon them back from the Graveyard or the Removed from Play if they had been properly Special Summoned first and then sent from the field to the graveyard/removed from play area.
