Great reviews on the last Treasure Chest finds, I'm willing to continue that tradition! We found a remover and a burner in the last treasure hunt, let's see what we can dig out today! Remember the card Dragged Down into the Grave? That's cool, but we're not going to talk about it today . . . we'll talk of a card whose effect could easily match the name of the card above, oh! Dig a little deeper! There it is . . .
Michizure
Trap Card You can activate this card when a monster is sent from the field to your Graveyard. Destroy 1 monster on the field.
This is a perfect card for your side deck and even for your main deck, very easy to activate, very efficient as well. Imagine how many times your monsters are destroyed, and no just by battle, even by those evil Smashing Ground, Sakuretsu Armors and Mirror Force, (So-so evil . . ) COUNTLESS times! So why not return the "favor" and give your opponent a little taste of the soup that they made.
This is a very simple card, extremely easy to find, you probably have one or two laying at home in your rare stack. I hardly recommend on running this card, a kid at a tournament has abused this card over and over when I smashed and Mirrored him, I was just empty-handed! Consider this card deeply, you might need it. Michizure is out in Pharaoh's Servant and probably in your card box, go get it!
Magic Drain
Counter-Trap Card You can activate this card when your opponent activates a Spell Card. Your opponent can discard 1 Spell Card from his/her hand to negate the effect of this card. If your opponent does not, negate the activation of the Spell Card of your opponent and destroy it.
Another friendly trap card from Pharaoh's Servant. Very easy to use, very simple to put: This card is threatening your opponent in a very vicious and sophisticated way.
Take this for example: Someone is caught stealing a car, you point the Magic Dragin and spit out a "Drop it or I'll shoot!"; this is exactly the case here. Either your opponent will lose a Spell card, or you will just have to negate his. Smashing Ground, Pots of Avarice, Noblemen, all those strong behemoths can be negated by a simple card without a cost.
This card is great for your deck, think about putting this cutie in, I've seen it in action and trust me, you don't want to see it in action. It's out in Pharaoh's Servant as well and very easy to find, get it now!
That wraps up another installment of our treasure hunt, lucky number 7 is on next week, take care and tune in next time!
Nice one! I love these articles. If it weren't for these articles (especially the most previous one), I wouldn't have found my trump card, Fissure. I used to run Mitchizure untill it kept getting blasted out from under my feet. But Magic Drain, Magic Drain is a very cruel card and is just begging to be abused by the proper deck.
personally i love magic drain. i think is one of the better midel or late game cards when you have controll of the game. it just craks almost al posibilitys to react .
Hey darkflare, nice article. Michizure is one of those gems that I felt didn't get the credit due when it came out. In fact two weeks b4 the list came out, I traded
Regnr8 an inferno reckess summmon for 3 of them. People might say I got ripped off but I already had three(stupid chazz packs. didn't get a single lv10  ). It's funny when people whip out a fissure, hammershot, smashing ground, or sakurestu like you said, and then you deal punishment in return. They get the "W.T.F." look on their faces and want to see the card. My only concern is if this card gets too hot. It'll run rampant like sak. Oh well, somebody'll think of something else to tech if so. Peace.
I remember Michizure. I used to get smashed by it all the time. I never managed to get ahold of one of my own that I know of. If I get one, I'll be sure to give it a try!
I also remember using Magic Drain to smash spells when I was a newbie. Then I was told that it wasn't very good by more experienced players, and so traded my only one. I feel so idiotic now, that was a great card. Thanks for reminding me of the cards that I forgot.
I looked at the text on michizure; now I like it a lot more. Creature swap a monster over and kill it: use michizure, tribute a monster: use michizure (is the timing correct?). It can be used on either players turn too, now that's awesome.
I love magic drain. I got one when I started dueling and have kept it. I've had 2 more copies which I traded but magic drain has been a solid side deck choice for me and I'm using it or regionals on sunday as well.
I kilñled this guy once with it since he was going to use a level up! on horus lv6 to bring out lv8 but I chained drain and well I knew he had lv8 only in his hand. Afterwards it was downhill for him.
magic drain is one of the best spell negators ever.
i remember when i used to run 2. they would play graceful and would discard a spell then have to discard 2 more cards. magic drain is fun to play against any spell that has a cost to it.
michizure isnt a big destroyer but its an easy card to get, and with it you can scare your opponent out of playing that lightning vortex.
I've used both of these cards before and yes, they are good but they also have drawbacks. I'm all for balance in the game, and these two cards are another example of good cards that have to be played carefully and correctly.
First Michizure. The biggest problem with this is most SMART players will get rid of your monster BEFORE they summon thiers, so it sometimes sits for a while being useless and you're thinking, "Man, I wish I had a Smashing Ground in my hand now instead of this useless Michizure on the field." Personally, I run an above average amount of S/T removal and as tarheel can attest, I can get rid of them pretty quickly.
Second Magic Drain. Here again, a great card but only in the right situation. Early game, this may as well be a wasted card. When you're opponent's had is big, they will cheerfully ditch another spell card with little concern if it's a Spell card they really, really want to activate. You can use this to your advantage if you run more hand disruption. When I was running two Magic Drain, it seemed like I always had them in my opening hand, which sucked.
All in all, two really good cards that casual duelists will find frustrating to utilize properly.

Or summoning that Exiled Force, or activating that Smashing Ground, or Sakuretsu Armor, or Mirror Force, or Widespread Ruin, or Fissure, etc. :)
*sigh*...I just don't get it...there are so many OTHER good cards in this game (like these) but yet most players are STILL running the same exact deck types at regionals! Have you continued to watch the meta report?!! Everyone is STILL jumping on what the next "bandwagon" deck turns out to be! One of the things that this game frusterates me to the core! Michizure and Magic Drain are EXCELLENT cards! Not broken either!
My problem with Michizure, back in the day, was mainly how to use it. It was a tricky card without clear rulings. So I'd always think you could use it if someone killed my monster in battle or something. But after the confusion it'd cost me, I just ditched it and never really came back to it, mainly because of cards like Magic Drain. Since most times the monster removal that'd kill me were Spell-based (Trap-based removal is easier to deal with in my opinion), Magic Drain took care of it most of the time. So if I had to choose between the two cards, definitely a Magic Drain over Michizure, especially since they can be used against the same cards half the time. However, it's still hard to find room for the card since there are the commonly used (if you have one) Mirror Forces, Torrentials, Calls, Sakuretsus, and any other tech cards (Jar of Greed or Compulsory anyone?).
