I had this question come up at a tournment.

If I have Judgment of Anubis facedown on my side of the field and my opponent activates Dark World Lightning can I used Judgment of Anubis to stop it?

The wording on them makes it hard to figure out if you can do it or not.

Any help would be appricated.

Yes, you would be able to use it in that situation

Judgment of Anubis can be used in response to any Magic Card that would end up destroying m/t cards on your field.

The card doesn't have to JUST destroy Magic or Trap Cards if that's what you're confused about.

Stuff like My Body As a Shield could be negated by Judgment of Anubis if it were being used against a m/t on your field as well.

although only it they're targeting a face down spell/trap card. if they're targeting a monster then it can't be used.

Yeah, Dark World Lightning has to target a m/t if you want to be able to use Judgment of Anubis on it. Otherwise, it's targeting a monster, so you'd need to use something like My Body As A Shield or something.
