Alright, I used the search function and typed this in but I didn't come up with anything so here it is: On Friday I was playing my friend and everytime that I attacked his face-down Penguin Soldier (I think that the one that returns to monsters on the field) he said that he could return that and another monster on the field. Can he do that?

i checked ude and they didnt have anything about it returning itself when its the attack target. but i dont think you can return the penguin soldier to your hand when it is the one being attacked.

No...it cannot select itself because it's already "destroyed" by the battle and destined for the Graveyard/Removed from play Area/etc (depending on effects)...just like how Morphing Jar #2 does not count itself for its effect.

The ONLY way it could count itself is if it survives the battle somehow.

Alright Thanks. I have one other question. If I had two Soul-Abosrbing Bone Towers on the field and special summonded a third, would I get the third's effect along with the other two's?

No, you would only get the first 2 because they were already face-up on the field when the summoning occurred. The third one does not count itself for its own effect.

It's sort of like how Continuous Traps do not get their effects until after they successfully resolve or something like that.

Simply put, you won't get the thirds effect nor would you get the 1st one's effect if you were to Special Summon it by itself.

• If "Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower" is Special Summoned by itself, its effect is not applied for its own Special Summon.

as that ruling states, you don't apply the effect of the tower that gets summoned, just the other 2 already on the field.

Okay, thanks for letting me know. Now all I need to do is get three Needle Worms. Them are some hard cards to get.
