Hey guys, are trio tokens considered effect monsters? I believe so cause of the 300 damage they cause when destroyed. At a tourny yesterday, my opponent had 3 trio tokens and played MST on my face down ceasefire. I chain giving him what should have been 1500 damage which would have helped decide the game. Judge ruled they are not effects as Ojama Trio mentions nothing about the tokens having effects. Thanks in advance.

Ojama Trio Tokens do not count as Effect Monsters. They count as Normal Monsters.

ALL Tokens, unless they make something that specifies otherwise...are ALWAYS treated as face-up Normal Monster Cards for all purposes except...

A.) Being flipped face-down (tokens can never be flipped face-down)
B.) Sent to the Graveyard (tokens "disappear" if they ever leave the field)
C.) Removed from play (same as above)
D.) Returned to your hand/Deck (same as above)
E.) Any other restrictions placed upon them by the card that summoned them


In this case, the Ojama Tokens are not the one's with the effect. It is a "lingering" effect of the Ojama Trio Trap Card itself, not the tokens.

A lingering effect of which Jinzo and the likes can not negate. I actualy dont think theres a card in the game that can negate the effect of an ojima token's burn. Des Wombat can reduce it to 0 sure....

Only card I can think of that "negates" burn damage...

...but even that one, I dunno about it being able to work against Ojama Trio at all
