Hey I gotta question about the Sword Hunters abilty....does the Hunters special ability fill up the Magic Zones when he destroys a monster on the field?
A monster destroyed by this card as a result of battle becomes an Equip Card at the end of the Battle Phase that increases the ATK of this card by 200 points.
Yep, ALL Equipment Cards, whether it be Magic, Trap or a Monster Effect are all placed in the Magic & Trap Zone unless, for some reason, it gets stated otherwise.
This is the primary reason why Sword Hunter did not see much use; because you would end up running out of room for using other m/t if you used the eeffect too much (as well as being 2450/1700 for 2 Tributes when, at the time, you could get 2500/1200 with 1 Tribute with Summong Skull and Witch of the Black Forest was still available)
Or, you could just set Spell or Traps to fill upt the Zone yourself, and the cards would just be destroyed and go to the Graveyard since they can't be equipped.
Basically a double-edged sword there...one who's downside people would not risk...you either risk losing space for m/t for later use or you set down all your cards to prevent that and they all get wiped out...
And, no, Sword Hunter is not optional...as much as it should be...u_u

I didnt actually mean to Set a bunch of cards down. If you can destroy 2 or 3 of your opponents monsters, it's worth it to set at least 1 or 2 Spell or Traps, since that is what is normally Set anyway. If they do destroy your cards, at most, they just get rid of Monsters.
If you are going to play with Sword Hunter, you need to have as many chainable S/T's as possible. Waboku, Threatening Roar, Thunder of Ruler, Non Agreesion Area, Offerings to the Doomed, Enemy Controller, etc....
Of course...there's no longer any need for it since there's now things like Millenium Scorpion, Emesu the Infinity and such. Bigger boosts and, for Scorpion, easier to summon and such.
I think yes because monsters become spell cards that equip Sword Hunter,,,,or maybe no because its Sword Hunter effect....but looking at unions i think yes
i would say no. because your not actually ACTIVATING a spell card. it just gets placed in the s/t zone
that would be MY guess
. . . and it's a great guess because that is the correct answer.
The equip cards that Sword Hunter uses are generated via its effect, you're not activating a spell card (in this scenario) so you do not get a Spell Counter. Spell counters are only placed on cards (that can have them) when a spell card is activated, not the effect but the actual spell card (Diamond Dude anybody?).
Thanks. I've always wanted to know the answer to that and no one could tell me. Now I know.
yeah I agree lol, I gave the Sword Hunter to a close friend of mine and started beating me down with this card, so I had to know if there were any weaknesses to this card, but now I know that there's a list long amount of weaknesses on this thing lol
