I understand your throughts with Bazoo and Return. Bazoo Return has never really agreed with me that well, with my play style that is. Bazoo Return has a very "hack and slash" feel to it. It's all about pummeling your opponent into submission. I tend to flock towards decks that have a little bit more versatility to them.
Perhaps I could rework the line up a little bit so this deck could support Strike Ninja Return or Freed the Brave Wanderer Return. Strike Ninja seems a little bit more likely since D.D. Scout Planes are both Dark and Machine. I'll have to give that a little bit more thought. It might be worth trying out, though I do like the fact that this is one of the few decks out there that ISN'T running Return right now.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm definitiely giving your direction some thought.
So I did a bunch of play testing tonight. This deck seems like it's starting to come together. There were a few things I didn't like, so I'm making the following tweaks:
- 2 Tenkabito Shien
- 1 Book of Moon
+1 Cannon Soldier
+1 Victory Viper XX03
+1 Brain Control
I'm mainly just testing out Victory Viper because it's another Light Machine. I'm really not to confident in how it's going to function. I've also been thinking about testing out Helping Robo For Combat, maybe I'll try it out next.
If and when I get my hands on a second Cyber Dragon (I traded my second away thinking I would never use it, then they had to go and release Cyber Phoenix and tempt me to play Machine's) I'm planning on adding it into this deck. It seems like it needs to be running at least two.
I'm also giving thought to adding a second Magician of Faith into the deck, perhaps I'll use that in place of the Victory Viper/Helping Robo I've been thinking about.
When I took out Book of Moon and added in Brain Control I was wondering if I had too many costly cards in the deck. My Body As A Shield is a great early to mid game card, but it's a terrible late game card. Confiscation and Brain Control are a little better in this respect since their cost is a little less severe.
I'm going to test out this build for a while and see how things go. I will probably end up doing something similar to what you suggested, however I do like the fact that My Body As A Shield picks up where Cyber Phoenix leaves off, protecting my Machines from Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute and Smashing Ground.
I've also been thinking about adding in a Royal Decree. Perhaps that would work better than My Body As A Shield. I'd adjust my Trap line up a bit more if I added in a copy of Decree.
Maybe you should try out damage condenser.... I was just thinking up a Victory Viper Deck and Damage Condenser came to mind... And when i look at a lot of your cards... mainly the vic viper, cyber phoenix, cannon soldier and sangan (to a lesser extent ufo turtle.. maybe if there was moret to hit with it).. i feel like it would give it a sort of tool box feel... especially if it worked. But, i really haven't tried out the Cyber phoenix to see how effectively it maintains field presence.... so the damage condenser could end up just sitting there.
I've been considering Blowback Dragon a little bit recently. I'm still not sure if I want to add it in here or not yet. It's currently residing in another one of my decks, so I'd have to do a lot of suffling around if I was going to add it in here.
I think I mainly need to get another Cyber Dragon so this deck has a little bit more power in it. I'm still kicking around the idea of a second Magician of Faith to really abuse Limiter Removal with.
I'm going to stick with the Victory Viper experiment a little bit longer. If I can get Jinzo on the field, then Victory Viper will have a pretty good shot at destroying a Spell or Trap. However if I don't, it's effect has a lot less of a chance of going off. It would probably work better with Royal Decree in the deck.
I've also been considering adding D. D. Warrior Lady to this deck, probably in the place of Victory Viper. I need to think about all these options over again.
Alright, I've come to my senses, the Victory Viper experiment is over. I guess now the big questions is what to replace it with.
Do I add in a second copy of Magician of Faith to really help abuse Limiter Removal? Or do I go in a different direction entirely? I could always add D. D. Warrior Lady to give me a little bit of extra removal which is never a bad thing. Or do I go with something else completely different. I don't think I need the Helping Robo since Cyber Phoenix and Dekoichi both do the job better. I'm going to have to put some thought into what would fit into the deck.
I'm working on getting a second Cyber Dragon but it's still a little while away.
In my tests, drilloid is still a viable machine type monster. I too am trying out Vic Viper, and he has a strategy all his own that I'll share when the time is right.
Other than drilloid, helping patrol robo is the only other one I can think of. Let me know if Reflect Bounder does anything more than attract monsters with less than 500 attack or get removed from play. His effect will likely never stick.
I've also treyed to slip in one of the machone deck trinity, being last will, cannon soldier, and cyber stein. Especialy if I blow my field with limiter, getting a treeborn to defend me sounds about right.
Also, give ceasefire a try, With all these nobleman around and cyber phoenix needing to be face up to get her drawing effect, the extra damage is a bonous to kill an opponent's attempt to "return for game".
I definitely agree with the Ceasefire, luckily for me I'm already playing one :)
I'm giving more and more thought to Drillroid lately. I might give the little guy a try and see how well he works in my play testing. What's the worst that can happen, I don't like it and I replace it with something else.
I'm not sure if I want to add Treeborn Frog to this deck. I really like Last Will so far and Treeborn is a great fit for it, so maybe it's not such a bad idea. This is something I'm going to have to mull over a little bit as well.
I'm giving a lot of thought to switching my Trap line up to something along the lines of:
3 Royal Decree
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Call of the Haunted
That would mean between Jinzo and Call of the Haunted I'd almost have 5 Royal Decrees in the deck. This really slaps Return From the Different Dimension and Macro Cosmos in the face as shown in Nationals and that's something that really intrigues me. I just wonder if it would work well here.
