can gren maju be searched using sangan,witch etc?does the effect of this card applies when it is still in the deck?meaning if there are no cards removed yet,you can search for it using sangan and when you have removed cards,u cannot search for it anymore given the situation that the atk/df was increased?tnx..

No you cannot, "?" while in the grave, deck or hand has no value.

A card with "???" as a statistic has an undetermined numerical value and can not be considered for effects such as Sangan or Mystic Tomato (you get the general idea).

ah ok. so you mean to say that ??? is not equal to zero but rather void/null until a card(s) is/are removed from play from that player's graveyard..thanks..

Exactly, for searching purposes a ? is considered "unknown". Since Yugi is very strict on text when it comes to text and effects, an attack of 1500 or less is far different than an attack of unknown.

Actually, once its face-up on the field, "?" is the same as 0, but while it is in the Deck, it has no searchable value.

This is also true for cards like Deck Devestation Virus (when it is in the hand), it's an exception to the rule that I stated before (like that doesn't happen in this game . . .).

And even if they are face-down, they are treated as having 0...(in terms of Deck Devastation Virus)

if gren maju or a ??? monster is attacked while face-down defense position, is their new attack and defense applied or is it zero?

It's a Continuous Effect so its ATK and DEF is immediately applied as soon as it is face-up on the field.

So if you have, let's say, 7 cards removed from play and Gren Maju gets attacked while in face-down Defense by a Mobius, then Gren Maju Da Eiza flips face-up and immediately calculates 400 x 7 = 2800/2800, so it's calculated 2800 - 2400 and Gren Maju Da Eiza is not destroyed and the opponent takes 400 battle damage from the difference.
