if a card states that it can be flipped face down once per turn, does that mean that it gets an additional battle position change per turn, or simply that it is able to be flipped face down?

for example, can i flip summon a golem sentry, use its flip effect, then flip it face down in the same turn?

It is part of their effect, you can manually change their position ONCE per turn and use their effect to flip them face-down.

Also just to note they only get there effects if you flip them face up and not your opponet or as a result of a card effect.

You mean if you Flip Summon them?

Yes I meant to say that. I find it harder to explain card rulings then actually just knowing about them.
