ok here is the story:todat me and my friend were dueling and i used snatch steal on his FACE DOWN monster he said:you cant do that!! my monster is face down and i said : it dosent matter snatch steal lets me take a face down monster if i want... anyways my point is could you tell me who is right i wanna know for next time:):):)

Your friend is right, Snatch Steal is an Equip Spell Card, Equip Spell Cards can ONLY be activated on a face-UP monster.

Snatch Steal only targets face-up monsters because it's an Equip card, and Equip cards can only be applied to face-up monsters. I guess you can attribute this to game mechanics, I think.
