I have a question. If I discard king of the swamp by using thunder giants ability to destroy a monster with equal or less atk, do I still get king of the swamps ability to add polymerization to my hand?

And if not, than please just explain to me why.

No...you CANNOT "mix" effects like that.

You must either...

A.) Declare you're discarding to activate E. Hero Thunder Giant's effect and resolve his effect and only his effect alone.

or...

B.) Declare you're discarding King of the Swamp to activate his own effect and then resolve his effect and only his effect alone.


Note that King of the Swamp does not say "If this card is discarded from your hand...", but "Discard this card from your hand to..." meaning it's a discard for a cost.

You can only pay 1 cost at a time.

yeah, the cost for each effect must be paid individually.

the closest thing to "mixing effects" like this would involve a cost and a trigger effect (somthing that says "whenever/if something happens...") as the cost for one effect can trigger another effect (an example would be cannon soldier tributing sangan). and even then it won't work with optional trigger effects as they would miss their timing.

Yep..or Last will or something thrown into the mix (reminds me of Scientist...x_x;;)
