1. my friend has thought up of another OTK stradegy
use the feild card canyon
stone statue of the aztecs
and fairy box
is this possible?
2. when my opponent attacks can i activate fairy box in response. can i use its effect during the same attack?
3. i heard that they announced a new rule about the "replay" at nationals
meaning
if player A attacks with a DD warrior lady and player B uses call of the haunted to bring back a monster. they say that player A can call back the attack but if they want to attack with DD warrior lady that turn she must atk first or not at all. so DD warrior atacks scapegoat is activated and player A chooses to atack with another monster first instead. because he chooses to atk with a diffrent monster DD warrior cannot atk anymore. . .
anyone heard such a thing?
1. Both affects would be applied but it won't necesarrily be an OTK.
2. Fairy Box needs to be active (face-up on the field) at the declaration of the attack. You can't respond by activating Fairy Box and then using its effect because it would be too late by then as you would have missed the window for you to activates its effect. This is similiar to Sakuretsu Armor.
3. Please read up on the replay rules that are posted on top of the forum. Your question is answered there.
why wouldnt it be a OTK?
one the atk is zero atacking a SSotAztecs and that would be 4000 damage and it is further doubled to be 8000. . . rather one its a continuous loop or two they both happen at the same time so it only doubles it once. . .
1. I believe only one of the effects would be calculated, not both (just like with Cross Counter. You could only double the battle damage with 1 of the 2 effects, but it doesn't double twice over).
2. Actually, Fairy Box could be activated and the coin flip taking place right after last time I checked...
also after thinking about it..... the first questin should also work..... the canyon/aztec effects sound like they should be stackable....
it should be applyed like this, (after the chains are reversd to resolve)
Fairy Box, (well assume you win the flip)
Attack Declaration.
Damage Calculation step.
Monsters 0 atk is applied to aztecs 2000 def, new chain starts, (i like to call it a sub-chain)
Aztec/Canyon-2000 damage x2=4000
Aztec/Canyon-4000 damage x2=8000
Well, that would also have be the same type of thinking with Cross Counter (which is ruled that it does not work, even though it's an entirely separate card effect).
yeah, the ruling regarding statue of the aztecs and cross counter would apply to any effects that would "double" the battle damage taken. that the damage can only be doubled once.
• If your "Stone Statue of the Aztecs" is defending and you activate "Cross Counter" the Battle Damage your opponent takes is only doubled once (by either the effect of "Cross Counter" or "Stone Statue of the Aztecs").
and fairy box is a continuous card with a trigger effect, that trigger being the declaration of an attack (just like tha sakuretsu thats been mentioned) so its effect of flipping a coin can only be in the first chain of the battle step, it can't be activated in the first chain and then use its effect in another.
The question is whether or not the continuous effect of Canyon will be applied in the Damage Step. I guess I'll shoot the question to the judge list and find out.
As for not necesarrily an OTK, you're assuming that they won't guess it right from Fairy Box.

yea, i was wrong about the fairy box thing, (but you can always chain fairy box at the end of their main phase 1, so no biggie)
anyway mortals, i look forward to a correct ruling.
"Long gave a sigh, flipped Magician of Faith, took back Book of Moon, summoned Tsukuyomi, turned Magician of Faith face down with Tsukuyomi’s effect, attacked with Tsukuyomi, and Laurent flipped Fairy Box. Fairy Box missed its flip, and Tsukuyomi hit Laurent’s Magician of Faith: Laurent took back Mystical Space Typhoon. Long activated Confiscation and forced his opponent to discard Creature Swap."
He activated, AND flipped upon the declaration of an attack. Netrep doesn't state either way, but it also doesn't say anything about Sakuretsu Armour either.
1. Despite the watchful eye of two judges, they don't always catch everything and not all judges are aware of every single ruling or game mechanics and this is what happens.
2. Netrep is just a reflection of what is posted on the UDE Official Website so I fail to see why you would reference Netrep in this situation.
3. If you also look at the metagame coverage, they missed something huge in the Round 6 coverage.
