CURSE OF FIEND
Normal Spell Card
Change the battle positions of all Attack Position monsters on the field to Defense Position and vice-versa. These positions cannot be changed during the turn this card is activated except by the effect of a Spell, Trap or Effect Monster Card. You can only activate this card during your Standby Phase.
Ok, how do you activate this card?
I think that all normal spell cards can only be activated during your main phase 1 or two, and only the quick spell cards can activate in the stand-by phase, because of the spell speed, or also the continous since they saty in the field and you can activate them when a condition is met; there are traps that say the same thing "only can be activated in stand-by phase" but since they are trap card there is no such problem.
What is the deal with this card. you activate in your main phase and wait to your next stand by phase to gain its effect, or it is just a weird card that goes against everything we know. :noid:
Curse of Fiend is one of those more unique cards that doesn't usually fall into the normal criteria as other Normal Magic Cards...
Yes, it's true that Normal Magic Cards can only, normally, be used during your turn, during your Main Phase 1 or 2, but there will always be a card somewhere that can break the normal rules.
This is one of those cases...Curse of Fiend has a specific timing of activation that allows it to break the rules of other Normal Magic Cards. Of course, the uniqueness causes it to lose out on the other things of Normal Magic Cards. Since it can only be activated during the Standby Phase then that is exactly what it means. You can only activate it during the Standby Phase and no other time, even during your Main Phase 1 or 2.
I have always liked this card even though I have never played it. Anyway, this is the kind of card that makes me always end explanations about cards that fit a criteria that all cards fit by saying "unless the card says otherwise".

Reminds me of Darkness Approches where your monster goes to face down attack position. Whoops broke another rule there.
I think that vegeterian means that there is nothing in the rules saying a monster can't be in face-down attack position, as the rules state that Normal Spell cards need to be activated during MP1 or MP2.
