ok, me and my friends have been arguing about this effect, it says that when its sent to the graveyard by card effect its special summoned, blah blah blah, but does this effect include if its sent from YOUR HAND to the graveyard?

No..it must be DESTROYED and sent to the Graveyard...

Discarded =/= Destroy
"Sent to the Graveyard" (and nothing else) =/= Destroy
Tribute =/= Destroy
Removed from Play (and nothing else) =/= Destroy

...unless the card actually gets destroyed from your hand like Chain Destruction or Deck Devastation Virus (only things that "destroy" cards in the hand) or even destroyed from the Deck.

does "Card Destruction" apply to being destroyed, or just discarded? I had this issue pop up at my tourney area today, I checked the ruling, and I'm a little confused

All you do is read the card text...

Card Destruction
Normal Magic
You and your opponent discard your entire hands and draw the same number of cards from your respective Decks that you discarded.

...just because it says "Destruction" in its name does not literally mean it "destroys" anything...only if the EFFECT specifically says to "destroy".
