The correct ruling is: If you use Kurama ED in your starting 4 you may not have Yoko in you deck. The only way to use Kurama's 3rd effect is to add kurama and yoko into your deck as a 5th character.
No, Eagle I'm right. If you have a problem with this ruling talk to Scott Sager who gave the official ruling. I know you search for your starting 4. However, the rulebook specifically states you cannot have more than one copy of your starting 4 characters in your deck. This includes alternate subnames. In other words if you have Kurama ED in your deck and he is one of your starting 4 you cannot have any other kurama's in your deck, this includes Yoko.
I agree with eagle, what was the point of making the card if his effect only works if he is played fifth? Plus, I looked in the rulebook too and it doesn't say you can't have another copy of one of your starting 4 in your deck. YOU JUST CAN'T HAVE THEM IN PLAY AT THE SAME TIME!!!!
the effect will only work 5th match. when you build a deck you can only have 1 copy of each of your starting 4 characters and since yoko is kurama then that is an additional copy in your deck, making the deck illegal.
if you have any problems with the ruling look here:
Eagle, try listening. " when you build a deck you can only have 1 copy of each of your starting 4 characters" You can run any number of 5th characters and 3 copies of each, as long as they don't match your 4 starters.
Also, since you skimmed the rulebook so attentively you must have missed the first sentence on deck construction, pg. 40 "Your deck can contain only 1 copy of each of your starting 4 characters. Otherwise, you may carry up to 3 copies of any one card in your deck." It's a little late, but you did want a rulebook page, so there you go.
