Ok, so that was a tribute to my favorite movie, Kill Bill.
So now.. Hmm, it's been a long time since I've made a deck (Yeah, I've deleted all my other ones. I plan on doing so everytime when a new set comes out).
This time, I'm making a mono Dark deck. It was weak in the base set, but it now has major improvements such as more hand destruction, cheapest effective blocker (Cost 1 mana, and it can attack the player. Too bad it dies after that battle).
In this thread you'll find out why I use the cards, and I'll respect your opinion this time....
Here's the deck itself.
Dark : 50
Ok, why 50 cards? When building a DECENT deck, you will notice how HARD it is to stick to 40. Yeah, blame it on the new cards..
Creatures : 35
2x Amber Piercer
~Why this card? Well, since I'll be using a lot of cards that kill themselves after battling, or just getting them out, I've decided to pack them in. I think 2 is enough due to it's cost/power. It ain't standard, but it's like a Dark Reversal + 2 mana, 2000 power creature, though how many times can we use the effect considering that there's so much monster removal around (Crimson Hammer can take it out). So I consider this a back-up card. If I can't use it, I'll put it in the mana. If not, you could always think that it's a great card if you run heavy on evo cards.
4x Chaos Worm
~Packing 4? I thought you said that for 1 evolution creature, you should have at least 3 base cards.. So you would need at least 12 and you only have 8. Actually, yes.. I should have 12, but I could use it for mana. Then again, I could bring down the total cards to 48. Anyway, on to this card. I chose this over Ultracide Worm because of its effect. When he enters the battle zone, choose one of your opponent's creatures and put it in their graveyard. Cheaper than Terror Pit, and you get a monster. Drawback? It's an evo card. I still wonder why people don't like them, all you gotta do is keep the base creature alive.
3x General Dark Fiend
~Why the hell would you put this card in? I'll tell you why. He makes up what I lack. And that's power. So why not put Zagaan or even Deathliger in? Because I prefer not to. The tactic I would play with Fiend is to summon all three and leave them in the battle field doing nothing. They are back-up cards. If I'm down with zero shields, I'll use them to attack. Actually, I'm thinking that this guy can see more play in decks paired up with Nature. Get him out early enough for back-up. So yeah, plus another reason is that he's easier to find then his other two comrades, plus cheaper.
4x Horrid Worm
~How I love this card... I really do. If you could just keep him alive during the battle, he really shines. Oh, if you really took the time to read what I wrote, I'll give you a tip. For a Water/Dark deck, this is really a controlling tip. Kill off your opponent's hand using this, Lost Soul, or Ghost Touch, and use Corile to make one of your opponent's monster return on top of their deck. Ok, so it may take a lot of mana since you have to bounce back Corile to your hand with Gate, Saucer Head, etc etc.
3x Marrow Ooze, the Twister
~Cheapest blocker that can attack a player? Though it dies after a while. So the blockers I've pick are actually to sac. for Stinger Worm. Eh, it's cheesy.
3x Bloody Squito
~I put both blockers because against any other deck, you'll be needing the defense. Piercer again proves to be useful on returning these bastards back to life.
4x Bone Assassin, the Ripper
~Ok.. I don't know why I've added 4 in. I might just take it out, but again, Piercer proves to be useful when bringing back dead creatures alive. I think I have way too much removal in this deck.
4x Bone Spider
~Agressive monster. Easy enough to understand why he's in the deck, right? Geez.. Piercer is pretty powerful in mono Dark...
4x Stinger Worm
~Agressive like Spider. It's a parasite worm, that's why I added him in.
4x Writhing Bone Ghoul
~Back up vanilla creature. Yeah, so it's still good for mana or attacking.
Spells : 15
4x Critical Blade
~Pack 4 anyway. You could always use it for mana. Really shines against heavy blockers...
4x Death Smoke
~Staple
3x Ghost Touch
~I should've maxed it to 4 huh? Probably drop a Fiend for it.
4x Terror Pit
~Staple
Well, you can figure out the combos, etc.
Really though, count for yourself if you want to find out how many monster removal I have.
Anyway, fixing is a must. So rate away.
Mono-black, I have got an ideal mono-black deck similar to this. I like the idea, definitely got some support from this set. Looks real nice dude. Some suggestions...
I personally think Lost Soul is overrated. I take this logically, it's expected that within one turn, your opponent will always play a mana and a creature. That is -2 cards from their hand already. I am wondering if 7 mana is worth destroying the rest, and in some cases, your opponent could have 1-2 cards, which definitely makes it not worth it. Instead of Souls, I would max Death Smoke and Terror, decided that on my own deck as well.
Critical blade is very situational, i would imagine it to act as dead weight 99.9% of the time. Then again, it all depends on your meta so disregard what i said if you think differently prior to your metagame.
I could easily bump this deck down to 40 cards if you wanted me too. But the idea and strategy you involved makes very one of them absolutly necessary. I say it's a good idea and stick with it, or something fairly similar. What are your thoughts on Dark Clown?
