Death Liger, is he really all that He's cracked up to be?
I know this card is good, a double breaker with MASSIVE!! attack power, but when you think of it, A LOT of creatures have double breaker, so is he really all to brag about?
IMO he is alright. I mean sure he is a double breaker and he is realyl big, but come on, wahts the diff if it has 5000 or 10000 atk? liger is just outdated is all, especially with ultracide. however, he does one of the coolest freakin arts there is!
The difference between 5000 and 10000 is 5000. :) Just kidding.
But consider the defensive value of a higher attack value. You've just used DL to break 2 of your opponent's shields. Now he's tapped and vulnerable to attack on your opponent's next turn. In that situation, I'd much rather be sitting there with a 10000 tapped creature than a 5000 tapped creature.
Wouldn't you?
OTOH, I've stopped using DL in my Muddy Waters deck. I use a couple of Ultracide Worms and Zagaans. Zagaan is quicker than DL and UW is more powerful.
I don't believe DL was cracked up to be much in the first place. Now Bolshack, that was a highly overrated card. Ultracide is much better and as far as non-evo's go Zaagan is better. I'd rather have a 6 mana monster than a 7 mana one. There's not a BIG diff. between Zaagan and DL; both aren't that great.
Well sometimes the 9000 attack points comes in real handy to kill of some other fatties and as said before it becomes a good defensive value. Its true that most cards have come out of date by evo creatures but These are the creatures that don't require other creatures to be summoned so they is the advantage that they keep. True Ultracide worm is way better but there is only so many of the same race you can run to evo that creature from
Typical fattie & in this game they either don't stay on the board for more than a turn or 2 or they cannot be dealt with if your opponent cannot find the removal. Has it's ups and downs.
As for Uncarn, the draw back can be a bit steep. Nothing worse than getting bounced ... guess you could replace that lost mana with him :p but you would be still down 1 mana
I never liked Liger. Because double breakers didn't last past a turn or two in my meta (after everyone got a hold of 4 Pits), I always prefered to run Zagaan. Now with Evo out, I only bother with Lancer as a double breaker. Ultracide is nice, but I prefer Chaos. Many swarms where I am and creature removal is a huge plus.
I really don't like Deathliger. He's just big. I'd much rather run a larger evolution creature (although I don't particularly like the worms either). If I had to run a darkness beatstick, I'd probably go with Zagaan simply because he's faster and gets the job done at 7000. ;)
Zagaan looks a bit more menacing than Liger does, if you have seen the comic book relative to size you would understand. Plus the flavour text on Zagaan just adds to his appeal :)
