I know that many of players use Cetibols, but the majority perfer to use Hulcus. Here's a run-down:
Cetibols-3 mana
Sea Hacker
Water Civi
When this creature is destroyed, you may draw a card.
2000 power
Aqua Hulcus-3 mana
Liquid People
Water Civi
When you put this creature into the battle zone, you may draw a card.
2000 power
Yes, I know that Hulcus has the evo support, whilce Cetibols is from a new race with no support at all. The way I see it though is that with Hulcus u automatically draw a new card, giving u more possible card selections for the rest of the turn, But ur opponent will want to destroy it immediatly knowing 'bout Pally/Lancer and Fencer/Jouster. Now, say u have Cetibols on the field. Ur opponent will know that once it's destroyed u draw a card then leading into ur next turn and drawing another card. They'll want to avoid destroying it.
During the weekend, I won a total of three matches at da totsc. That's right, FIVE! My opponent would hold off from killing Cetibols with his creature kill cards. All I had to do was drop mine, and go in for the kill. I think that Cetibols has more power than Hulcus AT TIMES. It's like a Propellor Mutant. Ur opponent won't want to kill it right away. Now I'm done talking and I want to hear ur input. See ya!;)
well, the main problem I have with Cetibols is its not guaranteed draw, I mean Icehammer and Snare are the only preventions but, I'd like to be able to use the effect first instead of wait for it to die.
I agree with Miller. Just the fact that Hulcus' draw is instant I say hes more playable than Cetibols. With Hulcus you can instantly topdeck something for a potential game-breaking play. With Cetibols you gotta wait till they destroy it... *yawns*
I can really see running Cetibols over/with hulcus if ur usin' a mono-water deck. Alotta room 4 drawing, but not very good on it's own. I guess it just works for the metagame ur in. My meta is full of creature kill/rush/blockers. Cetibols gets killed and then I draw a card. In the TOT5C, I won five matches with this card on the field 'cause people would think that I'm usin' Pally or Lancer. It did so well 4 me that I know worship this card. (general knowledge, I guess.)
What u run, is what u run. I build on a budget, and scince I have only 1 copy of Hulcus(sob!) this card fits perfectly into my deck. At least, at the moment.:D
Because immediate card advantage is overall superior.
Both net you a card if you play them and then die.
For the Cetibols to be useful, it has to die. Kind of silly. You can't hold back with it; you almost always have to be REACTIVE.
With Hulcus, you get that one card immediately. You can play the proactive game and be one step ahead.
But do what you want.
However, if you're playing against a particularly weak opponent, it'd be hilarious to see him hesitate to kill your creature because of the minute card advantage you'd gain.

LOL! LMFAO! ROFL!(u get the idea).
Funny u should say this, cause I ran into this situation just 30 minutes ago. My new apprentice(haha) Was having a little trouble trying to icehammer my cards. He could have icehammered my cetibols and let my hulcus evolve into laner and run through his blockers and win, or hammered my hulcus and I could have attacked with cetibols, have it destroyed by his blocker, net myself a card, and win next turn. It was a funny situation, seeing how he would've lost any which way, but to see which decision he would make.
It's a three mana natural snare for dark or water cards with no shield trigger.
Your apprentice must really be a noob, because for me it would have been an obvoius choice: hit hulcus. So I would then ahve to block Cetibols, so what? So you draw a card, so what? I'm not like Shobu who screams "Oh no, not Brain Serum!" When a draw card is played. One card wouldn't be enough to worry me.
So I wouldn't brag about worrying my opponent if I were you. You were clearly dueling someone who hasn't had the experience.

Now if u may excuse me, I need 2 go on and brag some more about the pety things that I do for a living.:D
