By: Its author, pretty simple to understand
Theme Card(s): What is the key card in the deck. Like for Yugi it was Dark Magician, for Joey it was Red Eye’s Black Dragon, for Jaden it’s Elemental Hero’s, for Chazz it’s the Ojama Brothers! What’s yours?
Cost: Every thing has a cost. So what do you think the more expensive the better?
Skill Level: This is the most important thing of all. Since you are a duelist, you’ll win duels and lose some. An experienced player is nothing more then some one who can learn from the losing experience to never make those same mistakes again. The system is set up to show what kind of skill is necessary to win the duel with the deck. But understand that these decks are nothing more then simple canvas’s waiting to be painted on BY YOU. Once you have mastered play the deck you’ll see what changes should be made to the deck of your choice. Even if you are a beginner, this is how you become experienced.
Also on each link the decks list the total cards, the number of Monsters, the number of Spell and the number of Traps in the deck. This allows for a quick mental analysis of the deck.
So whats the next step? Simple build your own. A deck is comprised of 2 things Theme and Support. As an example:
Theme: Blue Eye’s White Dragon
Support: Kaibaman, Paladin of White Dragon, Lord of D. with Flute of Summoning Dragon and Burst Steam Attack.
A theme is what the actions the deck would take to achieve its victory. For an Exodia deck it would be Exodia, for a Chaos Control it would be Chaos Sorcerer and for a the deck above it would be a Blue Eye’s Theme deck. The theme is pretty simple to find. Ask you self these 2 questions:
1.)What is the major card effect(s) that are in the deck?
2.) Can the deck be supported by the other cards?
“BUT WAIT...” you ask, “HOW DO I SUPPORT MY DECK?!?!?!” Its simple.
A deck’s support only allows for the deck to either create a Catalyst OR Defend.
Catalyst: a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change.
Defend: resist an attack on; protect from harm or danger
A Catalyst is something that would speed up the theme of your deck. Like for Exodia you would add cards that would increase your ability to draw or lower the number of cards in your deck in a matter of turns! In a Warrior deck people use a spell card called Reinforcements of the Army. This card allows for a Catalyst to be formed. It allows them to search their deck for 95+% of their warriors in their deck! But understand that a Catalyst speeds the entire deck not just 1 combo or strategy. So adding 1 Limiter Removal to your deck just because you run 1 Cyber Stein doesn’t make the addition of Limiter Removal a support card.
Defend is pretty simple to understand, you’re just defending your theme from the dreaded “anti” theme. When a duelist play Macro Cosmos his biggest fear is his opponent playing cards to destroy his Macro Cosmos so in offer to defend this he runs cards that can protect it. Like Solemn Judgement and multiple copies of Macro Cosmos and possibly other cards which have very similar effects like Dimensional Fissure!
Once you have thought out what your Theme and Support are pick out a series of cards you want to use. Pick out the card(s) you want to be as the theme and start to build the support for the deck. When you’re finished you should have a 40 card deck. We all stress NO MORE since it would decrees your chances of drawing good hands and clumping cards together. Once you have done this document your theme, total card count, total monsters, spells and trap cards in your deck.
Finally if your Side Deck. Unknown to most duelist around the world, a side deck isn’t just 15 random cards. They are 15 cards which allow for you deck to either Increase its Catalyst OR defensive strategies in the main deck. So if you are playing the Structure Spell Caster’s Judgment theme deck and your opponent is beating you with his Face Down Spell and Trap cards. The next round you should Side in cards which would work well with your Dark Magician since he is the Theme card of the deck and the perfect card to work with him would be Dark Magic Attack. But understand that a Side Deck isn’t something that you build in 20 minutes after making your Main Deck. You need to test your Main Deck to see what are the problems in it. Fix those problems and side deck cards to over come those problems. If there is any room left you could possibly add a twist to your side deck. In example there was a Burn Deck run at a Shonen Jump Championship long ago. Its main deck was nothing more then massive burn cards. So when his opponent side decked to stop his Effect Damage, he’d side out all of his Effect Damage Cards and replace them with Cyber Stein. Now his opponent has absolutely no way to stop the onslaught!
With that said pick a Theme then we'll help you with its support~!
You do realize Mystical Space Typhoon doesn't negate the effects of Magic Cards, right?
lol i have been dueling for 5 years and i know that mystical space typhoon does not negate magic card effects. Its only a spell speed 2 therefore mystical space can only negate continuous magic and trap, or a counter, or another quick play. a spell speed 2 cannot defeat a spell speed 1... its not logical in the chain

I wasn't implying that you didn't understand it, I was questioning the one that made a comparison between Magic Jammer and MST. However, based on your explanation, it is clear that you don't fully understand chains either. First of all, a Mystical Space Typhoon can not negate a continuous m/t, a counter trap, or another quick play magic, it can only destroy them. Second of all, a Spell Speed 2 is perfectly capable of negating a Spell Speed 1 in a chain, I'll offer Imperial Order as an example.
A card's Spell Speed only dictates what can be chained to what. It doesn't say what can negate what. That is determined by each card's text. In the case of MST, it can't negate anything, because the card only says "destroy" rather than "negate and destroy".

hey cut a guy a break ;) i havent dueled in almost 2 years and my memory is not good so... yeah easy up mate. I havent read the new rule book either yet considering i was not going to return lol
Read what I posted above in post 4 and think about what your theme is.
Why run Jinzo with Amplifier?
Why Run Blow Back Dragon?
Will it be a machine deck?
Will you be able to play trap cards?
Why not play Quick Play Spells?
