Barrel Behind the Door + Demise, King

Would this work? Since Demise, King's effect is an ignition effect, could I activate Barrel to it? I'm thinking maybe not since its also a cost

No it won't work since payment is not the same as damage. Barrel Behind the door can only switch damage when the card in question really reads "damage".
