A Song of Ice and Fire is a series of novels about a five-sided war for rule of a kingdom, some with more valid claims than others. It's a fantastic tale of fantasy and legends that's a great read for anyone, from the first book, a game of thrones, to his latest, a feast for crows. I am going to warn anyone who wnats to read it, however, not to get attatched to any character. To begin to like a character is to sign their death warrant. xD
It is by far one of my favorite fantasy series... Only complaint is that there are nowhere near enough books written. And Mr. Martin is just taking way too long to get them out. The series is definitely unique in it's ability to kill characters, even ones setup for what you think as a long-term hero or villian. It approaches fantasy from an angle that really no other author does. It's more about characters and emotion than magic and whatnot. And I've never read a book where you want to see so many different sides or camps win... It's hard to actually pick sides with any house because each of them have good and bad virtues and they all have characters that you want to see succeed even though one's success will destroy the others... As I said, a very unique series.
My opinion is Tyrion and Jon Snow will be around a long time. I think Targaeyan (sp?) is gonna win. Danaeris is comin back with dragons and a vengeance.
In my opinion, three rulers will be there, and each will be a different Targaryen.
The first head of the dragon is Danaerys, of course, who is the only known natural Targaryen.
The second head is the unknown Targaryen John Snow, who was found with Eddard.
If you'll recall the story, Eddard Stark came back from a mission to save his sister from a male targaryen. She had been imprisoned for a year. He found her on bloody sheets. Whose to say the mad king Aerys didn't rape her, and out came young Jon Snow? They never do specify on who her mother is.
The third head of the dragon is Jaime Lannister. In a Feast For Crows (or a Storm of Swords, I can't recall which) The Queen of thorns tells Sansa a story of Tywin's young wife, Tyrion's mother. At one point, the girl reminded an arrogant Tywin, whilst he was boasting about his strong son, that Tyrion was the only one that truly belonged to him. This begs the question of who Jaime's true father is. And, if Jaime Lannister is not the one to rule, than perhaps his son Tommen, the young king, Joffrey's brother.
The three of them together will rule the kingdoms with bravery, honor, and kindness respectively.
I believe Stannis will not be killed as his brother Renly was, but rather see the light in time to kill his fire priestess. He will join under Jon Snow after realizing Jon's lineage, and together they will fight all the way to meeting Danaerys.
Tyrion will meet with Danaerys, after coming across young Arya Stark of the many names, and will be her greatest advisor after her loss of the bear. Arya will join her ranks and become a female knight surpassing even Brienne of Tarth.
Davos Seaworth will be killed, His head, hands and feet cut off, and put on the parapets of the wall, and his body will be burned.
Brienne and Jaime will fall in love and be all bow chika wow wow, putting the forces of Tarth behind Jaime as he fights for Danaerys. (though how that will happen I can't quite say.)
Sansa will inevitably marry Littlefinger, and grow enough back bone to kill him before he takes her virginity, or perhaps she will lose her virginity, and Littlefinger, having used her as he wanted, will deliver her to Queen Cersei to be recognized as a hero among King's Rock. But somethign will go wrong and she will either head overseas, or to the wall.
Bran and Ricken will reach the wall in time to meet Jon Snow, perhaps going beyond it and stumbling upon him there by accident. There they will meet the red priestess, who will heal Bran, at the cost of Rickon's flesh. Bran will be unaware of this cost until after it happens, and will probably be driven to kill the priestess after that. Or perhaps it will be Hodor, the hapless lackwit who could do it with ease.
Catelyn, now mute and mourning, will eventually commit suicide when she hears that the last of the wolves she knows of is fighting with the dragons.
Cersei Lannister will kill herself amidst the final battle, once she is told they are losing. Essentially, she'll do an Adolf Hitler, if you will, poisoning herself, or perhaps stabbing through a breast to the heart, to symbolize the worthlessness of her using her own body to get what she desired.
Meera and her brother will fight with Bran and Jon, and Bran will become a warg more powerful than ever before with the help of the trainign he'll get Beyond the Wall. He will also find love in the form of Meera, finally recognizing her soft, small body for the beauty it holds.
The krakens are strong, but stupid, with little control over the islands they've laied claim to. They will be destroyed first by Stannis, and what few armies they have will go to their side to help the cause.
Interesting ideas.... I'll have to contemplate them and when I have thunk about it a bit more I will comment....... until then: Let's give George RR Martin 10 paper cuts with each card with more to follow unless he gets off his arse nad finishes the books. It would not suprise me if he dies before he finishes the books.
I've been re-reading the books too, in preparation for book 5 A Dance with Dragons which is scheduled to be available on July 12. Unlike llikeydafanfic I'm going to refrain from adding more spoilers.
