I was wondering, if my opponent negates one of my spell/trap/effect monster and special summon Van'Dylgon to the field, is it possible for me to chain a card like bottomless and kill it? I am not sure about this because i am not sure if the special summon starts a new chain which then i should be able to chain bottomless or i just can't do it because it's still the same chain and a spell speed 2 card like bottomless cannot be chain to a spell speed 3.
Sorry if the question sounds confusing, and thanks for reading ^^
you should, because he isnt summoned until after everything resolves and you have successfully negated something or other by means of counter trap.
No, hes summoned immediately after the Counter Trap resolves, so there is no chance to activate a card effect, as it is during the resolution of a chain. This is the same for Voltanis the Adjudicator.
"Voltanis the Adjudicator" can be Special Summoned by its effect immediately after your Counter Trap's effects have resolved.

Would someone please provide the text of this card?

Card #: JUMP-EN023
Found In: Shonen Jump
Description: When a card that your opponent activates is negated by a Counter Trap Card, you may Special Summon this card from your hand. When this card is Special Summoned by this effect, depending on the type of the card negated, use one of the following effects:
* Spell: Inflict 1500 points of damage to your opponent.
* Trap: Select and destroy 1 card your opponent controls.
* Effect Monster: Select 1 monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it.
And thank you, masterwoo0. Looks like pulling the rug got another new target other than breaker, monarch and gadgets now. I wonder if this card will get limited the minute it comes out of the magazine now.....

Thanks wind1 for the card text.
I believe that you would summon Van'Dylgon after the current chain resolves. When this monster is summoned then you would activate one of it's trigger effects. It would now be the correct time to chain an effect such as Bottomless Trap Hole to destroy Van'Dylgon.
Reading the effect of Van'Dylgon, it sounds like a optional effect which could miss the timing to activate. Here are a couple of examples, assuming that you do indeed need to wait for the current chain to resolve before special summoning Van'Dylgon:
1. Sakuretsu Armor
2. Solemn Judgment
Resolve Solemn Judgment which negates the activation of Sakuretsu Armor. Now special summon Van'Dylgon.
1. Sak Armor
2. Seven Tools
3. Solemn Judgment
Solemn Judgment negates the activation of Seven Tools then Sakuretsu Armor resolves.
Since the last thing to happen was Sakuretsu Armor resolving and not the counter trap the timing to special summon Van'Dylgon is now missed.

Maybe you're not taking the time to read the effect, but it says WHEN a Counter Trap negates a card effect. Doesn't Solemn Judgment negate Seven Tools of the Bandit??
So how will this card EVER miss its timing, especially since the effect activates any time a Counter Trap negates an effect, regardless of the fact of whether its one Counter negating another.
Pulling the Rug only works against normal summons, so Van'Dylgon is safe from it.
Oh yeah, forgot that pulling the rug only works for normal summon. Looks like I'll have to think of other ways to stop this guy. I can feel that there's going to be A LOT of mirror matches when this card is finally mass produced.
yea mirror matches with SJC mainstays (i.e. Bellido Bros, Glass, Scurry) as counter fairies cost well over $300 and most ppl dont have anything for the deck except marshmallon, zeraidas, bountiful and the field spell. I doubt we'll see too many new faces running this.

Dont' be too sure, I think vandylgon is actually quite a splashable card. Most decks consist of "staple" counter trap cards like solemn and pulling the rug anyway. I plan to just splash vandylgon along with bountiful artimeis and use it in a D.D deck (without monarch...for good reason) to see how it'll go.

Masterwoo0, i have one more question for u.....let's say i solemn judgment one of his summon (let's say he summon raiza), then he chain solemn to my solemn. Do we both get to special summon the monster or just him since he negate the effect of my solemn.

The text reads that when the opponent has a card effect that is negated, the controller of Van 'Dalgyon can Special Summon him. Of course, that means that the opponent can negate his own card effect (which would be highly unusual) with a Counter Trap, or you can. In the situation where you negate the Solemn Judgment, you are the only player allowed to Special Summon. I doubt there is any situation that would allow both players to summon simultaneously, since it must be the opponents card effect that gets countered, and that means a Counter can only chain to the card it wishes to "Counter", so one will be negated.
I was under the same impression as you Masterwoo0. But I just had another Judge tell me that it He gets summoned After the Current chain. As Trigger Effects don't just interrupt the current chain.
