heres a question that bugs me

okay i have santuary in the sky on field and a metiel sage, of the sky. my back row is pulling the rug, dark bribe and solemn judgement. my opponent has treeborn frog and a face up royal decree.

okay now my opponents tributes treeborn for raiza targeting metiel. i activate pulling the rug while royal decree is on the field. mietiel gets her/his effect and i target royal decree. since santuary in the sky is on the field metiel gets to destroy royal decree. but does pulling stop raiza? or is it negated by royal decree?

The rule for continuous cards is that they must remain both face up on the field and active in order to apply its effect.

In this scenario you must first understand what is happening, and when.

Chain Link 2 - Pulling the Rug (Effect is currently negated because of face up R. Decree)

[Meltiel will now resolve its effect and destroy one card while you gain 1000 lp)

Chain Link 1 - Raiza (will bounce Meltiel since you targetted R. Decree)

So, you see, Pulling the Rug will not negate Raiza because Decree is still face up on the field while it resolves. By the time Meltiel can destroy Decree, it will have been too late to negate Raiza.

It's better to target Raiza with Meltiel.
