timing of Damage Resolving with Outwit and Willpower
Okay, my Batman is base to base against Deathstroke, Batman in stealth, Deathstroke not and Deathstroke has a token. I outwit his Willpower, he pushes to hit batman for 2 and hits, bats loses his outwit, DOES DEATHSTROKE GET HIS WILLPOWER BACK IMMEDIATELY AND NOT TAKE THE PUSH DAMAGE?
i told my pal, nope...since AT THE TIME OF THE ATTACK you did not have willpower and UPON RESOLVING DAMAGE, i lost outwit but he STILL clicked a click for push damage THEN got his willpower back.
correct? thanks

you re missing the point, bloodsword...deathstroke PUSHED to make the attack and at the time of the attack he did not have willpower...upon DAMAGE RESOLVING when the damage he delivered AND the push damage are RESOLVED AT THE SAME TIME, so therefore he got his willpower AFTER clicking for push damage.
CAN A JUDGE VERIFY THIS?
(no offense, but you two are mere members grins)

But you are a judge, so apparently their word means nothing either.
Since he didn't have his willpower when the action was made, he takes a click of push damage. He doesn't get the WP back until Batman loses outwit. Batman doesn't lose the outwit until Deathstroke hits him. When Deathstroke hits him, he doesn't have willpower, therefore, he takes the push click.
To use a power the character must have that power when the action is declared, and still have it when the action resolves (before damage from pushing or retaliation is applied). So Deathstroke can not use his Willpower to avoid the pushing damage.

i KNOW i am a judge, but this one really stumped me...my pal (and bloodsword's) argument was legit but i knew that it was the "at the time of combat" ruling that overruled his logic...i just wanted to make sure serves me right for not posting in the judges forum heh

Originally posted by Bloodsword Well dont ask and then tell people your not a judge so you dont count. Kinda rude.
rude? nah, i had to get a verification because after mindspa said i was right, you countered him by backing my pal's perspective so at that point i just needed verification. dont feel slighted, oh mere mortal, you are still part of the community and i appreciate your chiming in :-)

Give the guy a break. I dont think he was saying we didnt count, he heard and understood the opinions. I think he just wanted something more "official" for the purposes of fair play. But seriously Lancelot, "mere mortals"? I get your sense of humor, but quit while your ahead.
