if i have this equiped to one of my monsters, lets just say its a gemini elf, and i attack a face down maneater bug, does that negate eaters effect???

yes because the effect of the card states that when the equipped monster destroys a monster in battle the effect is negated, regardless if it's face up or face down.

While the answer is correct, the explanation is not clear enough... the reason why Wicked BF negates Flip Effects, is because of a simple thing called "Damage Step", "FLIP:" effect monsters activate during Sub Step 5 of the Damage Step right after monsters are considered destroyed.
