I have been reading the SJC Houston match results, on metagame.


Round 1: Jake McNeely vs. Joe Alcorta

In it Jake plays Gladiator Beast, and Joe plays Perfect Circle.

Gladiator Beast Bestiari was summoned by McNeely, and Test Tiger let him trade it for another Bestiari. That destroyed Alcorta’s Mirror Force! McNeely attacked, hit into Cyber Dragon, and ate a bit of damage to send back Bestiari in exchange for Gladiator Beast Darius. Darius’ effect brought up McNeely’s Murmillo, and another Test Tiger let him trade it for another copy, destroying the Cyber Dragon! McNeely ended with two cards in hand, one spell or trap set, and two Gladiator Beasts on the field.

But this paragraph doesn't make sense to me. Surely hitting GB Bestiari into Cyber Dragon would destroy GB Bestiari?

Was Defensive Tactics active?

If defensive tactics or waboku were active, then why did he take battle damage?

No the paragraph before states he played soul exchange on the face down murmillo and played Cyber Dragon in face down defense position, so he attacked a defense position Cyber.

Huh, why would you set a Cyber Dragon.

Was thinking GB had special effect, i didn't know about

Maybe he wanted to bluff the opponent into thinking it was a D-Hero Malicious.
