ok so i know you can activate cards like Reinforcements of the army and E-Call without having a target in the deck, resulting in a shuffle and the spell hitting the graveyard.

do i have to have a Dark Magician in my deck to activate this card?

i dunno...i think so...i run 1 in my deck...using it with no target is just stupid anyway, why would u wanna do that?

Well, I could see you using this card if you were trying to do a life equalizer/last turn type deck since it is a quick way to drop your life points.

The only thing I'm a little leery on is that Dark Magic Curtain is pretty specific that to special summon a Dark Magician. Both Reinforcements of the Army and E - Emergency Call are a little more generic in what they are looking for. I'd be inclined to say no. I need to go check the UDE forums to see if it has been posted.

To me, this goes along the same lines as activating the effect of D-Hero Malicious, when you already have the other one removed from play, in your hand, or in your Graveyard. It's considered an illegal activation of an effect because it cannot be resolved.

The difference between Reinforcements and Curtain is that one merely specifies a range to search for a Warrior-type monster, while the other specifies searching for a Dark Magician. If you do not have a Dark Magician in the Deck List to begin with, that is not the same as "running out of level 4 or below Warriors", and using the "failure to find" ruling.

Stop trying to use Dark Magic Curtain to drain half of your life points for Reversal Quiz :)
