Zombie Master Activation Requirement

I just want this out of the way once and for all. Am I required to have at least 1 Zombie already in the grave to even activate it's effect, or does it not matter?

If there is no Zombie in the grave you MUST send 1 Zombie monster from your hand to the grave, you cannot just send any monster.

Oh so I can still at least activate it even if there are no zombies in the grave to begin with? That's cool.
