If You Ever Wanted an Anti-Meta Deck, Here You Go NKO
This deck honestly has almost zero flaws, and how it didn't make day 2, is beyond me. I would honestly run about 4 cards different in here, but I thought I would post it in honor of a pretty darn good deck builder: Tomas Mijares. He completely annihilated Ryan Hayakawa, and did very good at Seattle. I saw a Post calling it Mid-City, but it does not fit in the "City" line of decks. Let's be honest guys: With Raoiu in the deck in 3's, this deck will be almost unstoppable, and will definitely make day 2. Now please don't just go copying the deck, as that is not what the point of this Post is. It is to educate players on the sheer fun factor there is in running an original deck of your own making. This kid built a deck that annihilated a 2 Time Shonen Jump Champion!! That is no small feat!! Like I said before, give the kid his respect, and don't just run and copy this deck, use his base strategies, and Tech your own ideas in. There are improvements to be made in the deck, but with a few small improvements, this deck will be unstoppable at the next Shonen Jump. Well, without further ado, here is the deck:
-Monsters-
---------------
3 King Tiger Wanghu
3 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
2 Banisher of the Radiance
2 Elemental Hero Neos Alius
2 Elemental Hero Wildheart
1 Breaker the Magical Warrior
1 D.D. Warrior Lady
1 Ehren, Lightsworn Monk
1 Morphing Jar
1 Elemental Hero Stratos
-Spells-
----------
3 Burden of the Mighty
3 Reinforcement of the Army
3 Shrink
2 Book of Moon
-Traps-
----------
3 Compulsory Evacuation Device
3 Dark Bribe
3 Royal Oppression
3 Solemn Judgment
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
With this bound to see some popularity at the next Jump, here are a few suggestions if you plan to try this deck:
-You will need a way around Royal Decree, and possibly Threatening Roar
-DD Crow should be in here somewhere for an early game removal
-Monster Reborn should be fit in here somewhere, as it will help you get a finishing blow on your opponent
-The Trap line-up should not change one bit. This is the Anti-Meta trap line-up that will work for this Meta, with minimal reliance on the Side-Deck
-Do not mess with the monster line-up too much either. A few Tech cards of your own, and you will be set. Personally, I think that there should be a Lyla, and another Ehren somewhere.
-I will have to test it, but Raiou the Thunder King, will have to be in here somewhere. I will have to test to see what you can afford to take out for it. It is just too good not to be in here. Especially in an Anti-Meta Deck.
Now with all of that being said, I realize that there is not much that you can do to avoid coming pretty close to the exact same build. I just ask that you at least give the kid his props. Original deck builders are A-O.K. in my book, and will always be at the Top of my list for AWESOME PEOPLE!!! =C=
actually raiou stops alot of cards in this deck from working 3 reinforcements stratos so there might have to be additional changes to fit him in
monster reborn probably shouldnt be included with the oppressions also : ]
Yeah, well actually it only would stop about 4 cards in here. The Reinforcements and Stratos. Well, Raiou would be gone in a turn or 2 anyway. Either your opponent would find a way to get rid of him, or you would use his effect early on. It would only be a hindrance if you drew them late game. Your opponent is going to have a few answers to certain things in your deck, and if they manage to get rid of an early Oppression, you might be in trouble. Monster Reborn is actualy a good choice in here. It might make your opponent pay 800, and make their last LP's pretty succeptible to a final attack. I don't know, I just think that Monster Reborn can fit anywhere, in any deck, and can only help you out in the end. Thanks for the opinion though, and they are very founded concerns. Lots of reviews, and no responses except for yours. Whats the deal? This deck is amazing, and I have it all thrown together ready to try it out this weekend. We shall see how it does. Anyone else care to weigh in on it? Thanks, C.
I know. It simply annihilated probably one of the best duelists in the game right now, and very easily I might add. And he didn't need to draw into anything either. He whooped Ryan within I think 2 turns or maybe it was 3, on his second go round. This deck is scary good. I don't think you should toil with the ideas too much of this deck though NK. I think the main combo that might be able to be transplanted, is the King Tiger Wanghu + Burden of the Mighty combo. You know the funny thing though? He didn't even get it off that often from what it sounds like, and he still did good. I am thoroughly impressed with this deck. =C=
It's funny because the guy I was talking to a week ago, when I was reading what was happening with Tulsa, he asked why no one was using King Tiger. Then a week later this deck showed up. It is absolutely one heck of a combo.
Personally I like the deck, but I have different plans of my own type to abuse Oppressions and Thunderkings.
Yeah, I thought about it too. The abuse of Thunder King, and Royal Oppression that is. I am also finding out lately, that a lot of duelists are getting ready for Raiou. They are probably going to be side decking Dust, MST, Book of Moon, Compulsory Evacuation Device, and a host of others, to get around the Thunder King. I thought of using him with that trap that lets you destroy an opponents card when you summon a Thunder type monster. I was also thinking of doing a Strictly Light deck, maybe removal, with Honest, and all that stuff. I would consider running the Warrior Engine engine as well if I decided to go that route. But yeah, Raiou is too good not to be in a lot of decks. =C=
I have personally talked to Tomas about this deck and I must say this is going to be the base that most Anti-Meta players are going to build from. I can't wait until Thunderking Rai-oh comes out so we just how many players will be using something similar to this
Yeah, I met Tomas some time ago, and liked his original deck WAY back when, and had touted him then for using something different than anyone else. He is a very old soul, and a cool cat. His team behind him though, are meh, as I have problems with a few of them. He understands YuGiOh, and finds stuff that not many other people can, and makes it work. He is just like me, and that is probably why we got along so well. I hope I run into him at any of these next few Shonen's. =C=
Oh, now I see why you wanted the Honest. Geez. I tried the Skill Drain version of the Sparkman stuff, and it did not work nearly as well as I thought it was going to. It drew dead, and even one Torrential, or Mirror Force, wrecked its whole day. I also though about a Batteryman OTK with that Trap card I mentioned, along with Raiou and all those other cards, but have not had a chance to try it out, so have no info on it. I will be doing a lot of testing when Raiou comes out. I cannot wait!! Only what, 3 weeks? Oh yeah. I guess if you don't pre-order, each Barnes and Noble is only going to be carrying about 4-6 of them, and will not re-stock them. The clerk told me that not a single B & N is going to carry more than 15 of them. With how cheap they are they will gone before the day is out. If you don't pre-order, you are pretty much gonna be screwed, and everyone is going to flock to me, the Thunder King Master!!!! lol, j/k. But I will have 3 extras. So, I will probably put them up for auction when I get them, or I might just bring them to both of the SJC's. I will be able to get lots out of the extras. But yeah, I might mess around with the Batteryman deck tonite a little bit. I just don't know the best way to run it yet. There are so many cards for it, and you have to be able to fit in some Tech and stuff like that. That is the problem I was running into when I was getting the cards together for it. It is crazy easy to try it, but I am not sure how it will work. I was pondering the idea of running DNA Surgery, and Limiter Removal, and that should be pretty sufficient, and I migth re-visit that idea. =C=
Because he's a easily searchable beatstick that can strike over most monsters in combo with Burden of the Mighty. No one really cares that he can 'become Neos', he's the strongest level 4 monster there is that has no side effect of reducing attack.
not quite true, he's in here because of stratos and rota, if he just wanted a beatstick he would have chosen gene warped warwolf as its 100 attk bigger and the same level. the important part was the "elemental hero" part of his name
