I have a problem with the Artillery Rule:
[quote/]
Units in the blast radius of any marker receive damage equal to the damage value of the firer, even if the blast radius of sever makers overlaps each other.
[/quote]
My problem with this is that: If you have 2 3" tokens 6" apart from each other everything underneath takes..lets say 2dmg. Now if you stacked the tokens everything will still take 2dmg. That is not fair. I think that if you stack tokens than every token does normal damage its just that it is individual shots and not one "combined" shot. An example of this would be:
BR Padilla: 3 tokens 2" 1dmg each.
You stack all the tokens and hit a SW Kendrick, or anything else with armor, each token would be totaled seperately against the armor. so kendrick can ignore all 3 shots from the padilla but if another piece has lets say heavy armor for 1 click gets shot with 2, 2dmg token and the first token knocks them out of armor and the second will make the piece take full damage.
Well, i hope i didnt confuse anyone out there but PLEASE WK FIX THAT RULING. Dont stack dmg but still count them as individual shots instead of 1 if it involves more than one token.
If they did that, critical hits would deal +1 damage per token. I don't want a single BR Thumper being able to wipe out my infantry formation in a single hit.
For crit hits it's gonna be a 1:36 rolls that its gonna be doubles and 1:216 rolls that its a crit hit. If the power is in the SS AA aritllery than they should just fix that piece in general in the FAQ's
Frankly, I fail to see why that is unfair. After all, it isn't like One Eye Jack can target a single unit instead of four and suddenly do 4 times the printed damage to that one target.
Without that proposed rule change, artillery becomes the only attack in the game that allows the printed damage to be multiplied against a single target. Yet, the pieces do not seem to be costed for such an ability.
So, what is it that you think is "unfair" about the proposed rule change?
checks, youre wrong with your math, the chance of a critical hit is 1:36 , not 1:216.
And about your problem : they really really wanted to weaken artillery in general, so that rule is perfect.
If yu dont like it spread your tokens or use arty with just 1 token.

Last time I played in a match where an artillery unit with multiple pogs got a critical hit. (Redmond Wizkids) That unit DID get an extra point of damage per Pog.
So that pesky 3 stack of 1 damage pogs, became 6 damage. 8(. if this was wrong, please point me as to where it says that.
thats wrong, critical hit damage is just applied once.
3pogs on your unit
current rules : 3*1 + crit hit 1 = 4 damage
the damage is first added, then modified, it in the faq
This whole rule was written around the SS AA artillery. Never in the course of wargaming history has a game been changed so much by one piece. Its really not a matter of being realistic. Its about putting a little balance back in the game. You might even see the good old sniper show up in some games again.
It's not unfair. The artillery pieces were becoming WAAAAY too overpowering. It has gotten to the point that most MW:DA armies don't even have mechs in them because you can't fit a decent mech in an army with the 2 or 3 artillery pieces (along with other pieces to tie up your opponent's artillery & keep your opponent's figures off of your artillery) that you will need to win. Most people, when building their armies under the current rules, are building their armies around Artillery first, VTOLS second, then tanks/transports/infantry third, without even using mechs, because you won't have the points. This game is called MECHWARRIOR, not ARTILLERYWARRIOR. All of these rules are meant to rectify the problems that are keeping the mechs out of mechwarrior armies. Mechs are supposed to be the main focus in this game, with everything else as support. Artillery is support. VTOLS, & infantry are support. The tanks & mechs are supposed to be the army. That is precisely what the new rules are doing. BRAVO WIZKIDS!!!
Originally posted by Checks91 i was just thinking that maybe if they stack tokens and not damage, maybe they can roll for each token seperately.
The darn SS AA is so accurate that rolling separately for pogs doesn't really matter. Place it under the center dot of the target and it will hit most of the time.
The other option they had was to errata the SS AA's stats. Change the range to say 24" to make it more difficult to employ. I would have perfered this direction as this new rule could get complicated.
I think a better fix would be to allow each Token to act as a single attack. That way, Heavy and reactive armor would still defent against most arty... but then again, the SS towed is still broken... so mabe a rule stating that only "towed" arty followes the proposed sule, and the normal arty just acts a a seprate attack for each token... a bit complicated, but it makes "towed" units more specalised... like they should be.
