I play faction pure for the most part (the only time I don't is if I use mercs, or accidentally show up to a game with less points then we end up playing -- like I did last night :) ) but I recently began to wonder how a company pure army might fare.
Most of the Bannson's Raiders I have are vetrans and all part of the company (with the handprint insignia -- forget their name) so I was thinking I'd give them a shot. It means not having access to some units I might like to field but it would force me to use other figures I barely tend to use.
Anyone out there played a game like this before? How'd you do?
Actually, their is a venue here that plays Regimental pure games every other month. So far, all of the games have been 1000 pts. (an insane amount, most people had to borrow figs).
Regimental pure! Thanks, luftvier! I suspected I was wrong saying 'company' but figured that people would figure out what I meant. :)
I'll have to check my Dragon's Fury as well... that sounds pretty promising.
Wow... through an odd combination of the luck I have at pulls and my addiction to this game, I might actually be able to field 1000 points of regimental pure Highlanders. They'd all be green units (I have 3 green Centurions and 3 green Koshi alone), but I might just be able to do it. I'll probably never attend one of those games, but still.
Some factions have a lot of pieces in certain regiments. I just set up all my pieces to photograph my collection. I did each faction and set them up by regiments. Three factions were really overloaded in certain regiments. The DF has a lot of elite units, BR has a lot of veteran units, and Highlander has a lot of green units. It would be easy to make regiment-pure armies from those factions.
Phantom, if you look closely, KotS has three "regiments" -- Paladin, Knights Errant, and Knights. (Not in that order.)
However, that's pretty trivial, as the whole "Knights" organization is probably just the size of a single regiment. 108 'mechs? There are only 17 paladins at any given time (and 'Zeke Crow is probably considered a Blackguard by now, so that's on 16... barely more than a company).
There aren't enough units within each Knightly Order (One Paladin, plus 'Zeke, who's 290, making 590 total; Knights, there's Janella and I dunno who else; Errant has Katsu, Marcel, and Yuri I guess, could be wrong.)
Would it be possible, however, to field a force entirely from *one warrior house order* among Liao Elites? They probably don't specify house without dossiers, so it wouldn't make any sense really. They all seem to have the burning sword, though -- is that Hiritsu?

Actually mine was the Knights combined with the Kinght Errants. But it was still fun!
I think that when Geo Keane gets here I'll be able to play a pure Dragoon army. Keane, Tollek, a Sniper, some Shocktroopers, and a bit more junk to get to 600. (Not quite a thousand, though.)
I can do 600 of Ronin, I think: a Balac, some Zahns, some Kanazuchis, a Crimson Hawk, a ForestryMod... dunno what else I need for it, though.
Merc Company Pure seems like a very interesting, challenging format.
