I have one HUGE problem with Cadenn, I ALWAYS fail heat checks if i am feilding a HL piece, any other faction i'm fin HL, i'm screwed, although Joel has his problems (min range) i like him alot
In that case, sure! I've always been a fan of HL Hoverbikes, they're fast, tough, and dopn't have repair markers.
The thing about caden is 23 Hardened. He can ignore most infantry, Balacs need a 12 to hit him IN THE BACK, and the current generation of 9 attack mechs just can't handl;e that defense. He's also pretty repair marker free, but you'd need good luck to hit that defense unless he's shutdown.
The long tom's okay, but it hella inacurate, and unless you transport it around, the "cheese" arty will eat it alive. Maybe take the po's out and put in a second one to compensate, or replace it with a HL Donar and concentrate on killing arty within the first couple turns.
Merc Sniper is a good choice. It can take a full SS Di towed AA in the face, and can be repaired back to full, while 1 shot from a :^: sniper will bring a SS DI out of AP. I would still consider putting in Caden, and Maybe replacing the Po's with the donar and more bikes, I swear those Donar CAN'T BE FRIGGIN HIT.
PoIIs stink, replace them. Use the change to field 3 peasants or so to base screen your artillery. I wouldnt stress too much about the Long Tom, it isnt a bad unit overall. That reactive armor is pretty nice, and one can work around the inaccuracy to some extent by aiming at clumps of targets. I'd pull out those hoverbikes too, try to put both Donars in, or perhaps 1 Donar, 1 other (base-screened) artillery.
the bad is that there are plenty of piercing units for all range of prices and this nullifies totally the biggest HL advantage, hardened and heavy armor
I deffinetly agree with replacing the Po IIs. Last HL Po I got I ripped of its base, burned it, and glued it to my field. That's how good they are in my opinion. But with issue between Joel and Caden with Joel you save 16 poits and only lose 1 defense and the hardened armor which now a days means nothing. As long as there are no agiltity mechs Joel will do fine and he has more staying power. Three clicks in and Caden only has an 8 attack while Joel still has a 10 attack. Joel also has a way more forgiving heat dial and all of his roles can be overshotwhen using him. And with the Po's gone I would either put in another Long tom and some peasants or another J-37 and 2 ROTS Di Towed Arties (Unless you must play absolutally faction pure but most HLs don't mind using their governmental brothers.)
Oh, we are talking about why the Highlander design paradigm is a ####ing joke and an insult to our intelligences? Hell, I could write a thesis paper on that. Some of my posts in the past have probably come pretty close to being thesis papers on the subject, now that I think about it. I'm not sure if Wizkids deliberately tries to mock HL players (261 points for 20 defense chargebait... and they have the audacity to call it our new beat-stick?!) or is simply totally out of touch with the way the game is played.
@ puma...
Thing is, people WILL be fielding agility mechs. Probably Arnis, in fact. People will continue to field agility mechs, probably indefinitely, as it is one SE that negates HtH Weapon, Rapid Strike (as if anyone used that ####ty SE anyway), Brawling, charges(!), rams, and punishes opponents for having a minimum range. Basically, a 1:6 tradeoff is always worth making in this game. Same thing on a smaller scale with AP negating Heavy, Reactive, Hardened, and Decoy. Only a 1:4 tradeoff there, but who cares? Anyway, I'm not trying to say that Caden is the solution to Arnis, but in the current game I'd favor him over Nguyen.
I have fought Nygen with Arnis, and it would have been ugly if it wasn't for the fact that I coudn't roll that night...Joel's Min range kinda hurts him...
One thing I'd consider, Inquisition, (if you don't mind tossing in Mercs) is Collin Tolleck's Cygnus...Has a 22 which is (fairly) hard to hit with Arnis, and better yet after 5 dammage he has an 11 attack...with pulse still...
As for your army as it stands, Drop the LT+Po's...Switch for a Pair of ROTS DI Towed, or a Merc sniper+HL DI Towed...The infantry is good, and the crow is nice for the points...

You should have learned to exploit it's uses instead of wasting a good unit!
