I've got a 500 point HTH this week. I've put together this Stormhammer pure force:
:^^: Targe x2 298
:^^^: SM1 Tank Destroyer x1 47
:^^^: DI Towed Artillery x1 43
:^^: J-37 Ordnance Transport x1 28
:^^^: Longinus Battle Armor x3 60
:^^: Free Legion Company x2 24
Total 500
The dual Targe idea was suggested by WckdDudeMan for a fun combo, and this seemed like a perfect time to play it. I will definitely be holding back with this army and infiltrating the Targes into water. The arty forces the enemy towards me, where the two 'Mechs either pound away at range (with overlapping field of fire) or wait for the enemy to come in close and Pulse for 6 + heat. The Battle Armor and SM1 play hunter killer for later in the game while the Free Legions play guard dog for the arty/J-37 combo.
Bear in mind that the local metagame is very subdued. I have never seen Arnis played at this venue, and although the SS DI Towed AAA is sometimes seen, one volley from the DI Towed will kill them (the trick being to keep the arty undamaged). "Cheese" is rare and most armies run along the same lines as the one I'm using.

DI Towed AAA x1 35

Free Legion Company x3 36
This will work much better for turtling than the SM1. Also, id keep the towed AAA in the transport cause its drift is good most likely will still hit even if its using the printed attack on the token.
Not really related to your army construction, but I'm glad to see the lack of metagaming at your venue. At mine I've been seeing a lot more armies for fun, lately, and even got away with playing an all Merc army last week. I've seen way more Highlanders and Stormhammers (faction pure) than I've seen in a long time. It's a good trend and hopefully it will continue.
