The Balac is great but if you can put in a JI100 or preferably a J-37 because you'll need its repair SE.
Alice is a poor piece because her strength is that Pulse but a rather poor heat dial means unless you are in water you will struggle to use her effectively.
Hoverbikes are the infantry of choice again under the proposed rule changes so good choice. The Gnomes are good. If you have him put Leo Riordan in instead of the Fet.
u should look at using Trayck and metcalf as they are the 2 best SSw mechs imho
also Shanetta Yuen looks like a reasonable peice. Jacky Tadaka is usable but a careful eye and luck must be used for her heat curve is horrendous.Kages are generally the best SSw infantry, BA (can capture) 0/8 range, 10 move, 2AP, 7 attack, 18 points. arguebly 1 of the most versatile infantry in DA. however they do drop relatively quick, so u have to watch out on the pushes.
id rather field diane jameson than metcalf. her defense is very big and drops slowly, plus if you manage to get close enought u can dish 10 damage and salvage most mechs. also you wont have much problems with ammo explosion, since maximum it can do is 1 damage, at 2 first slot, and she is cheaper.
Personally, I'd avoid Fetanet Eyraman and Jaqueline Tadaka like the bubonic plague. They start really nice on their initial click, but their stats go downhill as soon as they take even the slightest damage. For Fetanet's 97 points, you could get away with 3 elite Swordsworn towed autocannon and a J-37 Ordinance transport with enough points left over and add another hoverbike. Leaving you with 9 points left.
take Shanetta with grapple and 2 T AAA maybe in J-37 and Arnis is down in two or three turns. Another possibility is the good old Centurion - very cost effective, high damage and last pretty long. Scotty is nice piece for the points and heat. If you want it nasty take Floyd Glass and JI100 or J-37 plus some inf. Of course all need a standing support around. A Sprint would do a good job in your army as well. Alec Denner with infiltration is better than Gnomes or a Sortek.

Lack of artillerty support will hurt the most. The Balac can be used to negate opposing artillery, but only if your opponent isn't playing good AA pieces. I would try to add a Sniper or a Merc Sniper if you can't get the SSw version. For mechs, Gary Metcalf may be the best in terms of heat dial and overall playability, but I have heard Romain Tesarek is similarly playable though I haven't played him myself yet. Of the Legionaires, Tracyk is the better of the two as his heat dial is better than JT. Another mech to consider is F.S. Burdnak. His heat dial is bad but makes good formations with Hauberks (7 click Alpha Strike) and has restart roles on the first and second clicks from shutdown, though his 20 defense means you have to screen him with infantry or good terrain placement. I've found that Alice Vander is a tough peice to play..... Heat dial is hard to manage and her primary strength is the pulse attack which I have never been able to get off when I play her. Anyway, try to add some arty and best of luck!!!!!
Gary and His lance mate Romain are 2 of the easiest to play SS mechs. Gary is fast jump capable and has a sweet heat dial (Reactive armor is also great). Romain is slow, but has a better attack and he just lasts and lasts. In every single match I brought him people are suprised by just how much punishment Romain can take.

Romain is an undercover Highlander in the Ghost Legion, it's the only explanation :) No wonder I like him so much, he has some of the best traits from both factions that I play. I'd never thought of that before.
My first match with him he got nailed by Arnis' charge and he still killed arnis by himself shutting Arnis down with repeated Energy hits. The next match he took on 2 SS Balacs, got repaired and still withstood a 2 round onslaught from 3 SS Towed autocannons.
