The idea is to protect the artillery with the ConMech MOD-B and a Kanazuchi. The Mech's antipersonnel will handle any fast infantry planing to base my arty, and the Kanazuchi will base any Mechs trying to charge it. Two Kanazuchis and the Condor will be a formation. The Schmitt will go around popping off shots at big target because he can move fairly fast and break easily due to evade. The Trike will be in the Saxon because if the Trike infiltrates it loses it's two damage down to one. The Fa Shih and CBA will be in the Giggins, which can fend off infantry harassers with it's antipersonnell, going towards the enemy DZ to base big vehicles and artillery.
Infiltrate Bart and Cynthia. Move the arty and the recovery vehical in formation up one side of the board and the CBA's up the other. Use the Arty to keep the infantry and vehicals moving toward Bart or Cynthia ( 14" range = Good ). Use the CBA's to clean up guys who get through and mop up the rest as time goes on.
And note: I DIDN'T CHARGE AT ALL. And the army still kicked..
I alternated Long Tom firing and put the mechs as a team in hendering to shoot out to 14in at incoming units. The Lamprey dropped the raiden to stop counter Artillery or large targets and then the Lamprey took rear arc shots. Worked well.
I just put together a fun fluff accurate (since Fred has a thing for Cynthia) 450pt army.
I will infiltrate Cynthia to hendering for AP shots and jump Fred around to take get cross fire shots with Cynthia and he has Agility so he will most likely not be charged. Use the Lampreys as rear arc shot harassers and have the Raiden in them to be dropped on Artillery or other large targets. Infilrate the Trikes to do base and break manuvers. I have not tried it yet but I think that it will work well.
would this work?

lego
thumper x2
ji100
lamprey
fa shih
both mechs infil, then lego charge or shoots. artil moves with ji100. fa shih BA in lamprey to base and grapple artil, or other key units so my artil can shoot it down
Artillery without AP is a waste of points in the 450/3 format. Every game that I have played using the proposed/new rules has seen armies built with units with reactive, heavy, or hardened armor.
BR is very limited on artillery -- your either have Kenneth or don't. If you don't, then you do not have many choices for AP artillery.
Originally posted by BannsonDevotee but is my concept good?
You have 82 points tied up in two thumpers that may not inflict any damage. I would keep one thumper that you can use to harass non-armored units and add a few SRM Teams, Their 2-AP damage will help you chip away at the armor of enemy units.
Try this one:
2x Peasant Company
1x JI-100 Repair Vehicle
2x Fa Shih Battle Armor
1x Sortek Assault Craft
2x Lamprey Transport Helicopter
2x Targe
The Targes are great to rush the near the DZ with their 20 run. If you want to fire every turn put them in water. If not, after their run, fire once then vent next round. Then fire 2 rounds then vent. Repeat as often as necessary.
Load the Fa Shih into the Lampreys and rush them to the DZ to tie up any arty that is there and harass them and get the VC3 points. Don't let the Lampreys get caught by any AA while in the DZ or they'll be done for, espicially with the new ones coming out.
Move the JI-100 up to the Targes to repair them if needed.
Infiltrate the Peasants and then move them to protect the Targes small rear arcs.
Use the Sortek to take on any infantry your opponent might have with it's Anti-Personnel.
I would definitely take the Targes over the Lego. Their stats are almost identical with the exception that the Targes having a 20 Def with Heavy Armor and their 3 Vent.
If you don't mind having Mercs in the mix try this one:
1x BR Peasant Company
3x BR Targes
1x M Giggins APC
Do the same as above but use the Giggins with the Peasants loaded to rush the DZ. The Giggins is also good to use against infantry with it's Anti-Personnel. you can push the Giggins once, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I wouldn't recommend the 2nd one for an opponent that has 2 or more artillery though.
