Is there a MW PC game in which their is actuall a story line?
I got MW 3 and i have played it a while. I think mine has a problem cause i can pass the first Campain level, but i cant go to the next one. That isn't my question, but if any one has any info about that, please tell me. Well anyway, i have been playing that games, and it is fun. i like the shooting and whatnot, but i was wondering if their is a MW game where u have to actually buy the stuff u put on ur mech. Maybe u could have sponcers, and fight in tournaments or in real war. I donno. Is there a game like i an dreaming about?
In the Mercenary ones you have to buy your stuff. In MW2: Mercs there isn't really a storyline until the Clans invade. In MW4: Mercs the FedCom Civil War is the backdrop for the whole campain.
In MechCommander 1 & 2 you have to buy your stuff (less so in 2), but not to the degree you do in the Merc ones.
Because you have god moad and or Infinit ammo on i had that problem for a month, Turn God Moad and Infinit ammo off and then once you do all the objectives it will end and you hit enter and it ends if i remember right
Theres ALL KINDS of MechWarrior games where you have to pay for the maintenence of your 'Mechs, and have a storyline.
In fact, EVERY BATTLETECH computer game follows the CBT storyline except for Ghost Bear's Legacy follows cannon BT storyline.
MechWarrior 1 is set in the period between the Third and Fourth Succession War, and you get to choose exactly where in the Inner Sphere you go, which missions you take, what 'Mechs you buy, and what MechWarriors you hire. Of course, its a bit old, and the 'Mech selection isn't that great, just the classic Unseens (Locust, Jenner, Phoenix Hawk, Shadow Hawk, Rifleman, Warhammer, Marauder, Battlemaster).
Mechwarrior 2 was set in during the Clan Wolf/Jade Falcon Trial of Refusal, outlined in the Battletech novels "Bred For War" and "Malicious Intent." The storyline is clearly defined in little short stories before and after each mission.
Mechwarrior 2 Ghost Bear's Legacy has its own storyline, and though viable, wasn't recognized in cannon BattleTech. The new Crusader Clan Wolf raids the Ghost Bears and steals their giftake, the best DNA the Ghost Bears have to make new MechWarriors, and the Ghost Bears have to recover it. Like the previous MechWarrior 2, the story is spelled out by short videos and text stories.
Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries story was set in the aftermath of the War of 3039, where the Federated Commonwealth had an uneasy peace with the Draconis Combine. Like you wanted, there is a campaign where you fight on Solaris VII as a gladiator for money. When the Clans come into play the game follows the storyline set in Mike Stackpole's Blood of Kerensky trilogy, an awesome set of books on their own right. Unlike the previous MechWarrior 2 games, you are in charge of hiring MechWarriors, repairing your 'Mechs, buying ammunition, paying for customization, ect.
Mechwarrior 3 is set in the "Twilight of the Clans" series of books in which the Inner Sphere strikes back at the Smoke Jaguar Clan and eradicates them. Your mission is to hunt down the remaining Jaguar stragglers, and like the previous MechWarriors the story is told with audio and visual clips during briefings. However you customize your 'Mechs with battlefield salvage rather then parts you buy on the Black Market.
Mechwarrior 3 Pirate's Moon had its own storyline, that wasn't really sanctioned as part of the official Battletech storyline, but it was still a fun game and had its own neat little story about pirates and fending off the scourge. Like Mechwarrior 2, you could also play as the Pirates, so you can see both sides of the conflict like you could as either the Wolves or Jade Falcons in the second MechWarrior.
All of the Mechwarrior 4 series are based during the FedCom Civil War, though the only one where you can pay for upgrades and all that is MechWarrior 4 Mercenaries, which is an excellent game, though a little on the short side. However, with three different endings its got a little bit of replayability and you can always go to Solaris VII and fight in Battlemech gladiator competetions for extra cash.
I think Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries is exactly the game your looking for, and you can find it pretty cheap now, about $20.
