I think they are one of the very things wrong with the game right now. Luckily they do not have AP, although I'm positive the le version will fix that.
As I have yet to get my booster's, YET, I have looked at the stats, and think its a GREAT idea. I mean I/we have often looked for ways to help add cheep Defence to are game, and I think this was a homerun. Now for the Civil Engineer, thats a miss and then some. I think the possiblity's for the unit where great, and wasted. I hope that this isnt going to be the start of things to come for MW.
First of all, I would be very suprised and upset if any of them had Armor-P
Second, I am glad none of them have more then 1 token
Third, I AM suprised to see some of them with 2 damage
Fourth, I am VERY happy to see them with Anti-P
lastly, the SW version with a 22 range and 2" blast makes it the one I will use the most. For me all these reasons have a special little place that I have tucked away for times when I need somehting to be happy about. For those that know me well, you probly can guess why
hey, doesnt anyone remember? this was one of the types of units we specificly asked for on several occasions (along with repair infantry, which we hacent gotten yet). im glad they're here.
It may just be me, but Anti-Personnel doesn't work with Arty fire... No units are targeted in the attack, so it doesn't help the blast spread any better... it just works well when they get within the 6" direct fire range.
note that in an artillery war, padillas or any other piece with 2 damage, 2 targets, would waste these things. it sotra justifies the point cost. they die so fast... a single SS fenrir in a giggens can do the job.
I like them because now I can add two with my padilla artillery tank and get a +4 for an artillery fire formation instead trying to have a clear LOS. Thats 3 artillery units for a total of 89pts. The Antipersonnel SE on the SW versions could help to bust up some infantry movement formations that may come my way in games, but that's just my opinion.
So... you take, say, a dozen of these little buggers and scatter em all over the place. Then you proceed to pound the snot out of your opponent with multiple arty blasts. You'll very rarely push, since you'll have so many you won't need to. The multiple individual targets will make hunting them down a nightmare, and you've still got lotsa points to load in some big guns, basers or maybe even some command, to really make your opponents' lives miserable.
