Wizkids has said nothing official about discontinuing the HL. The scenarios merely show how much the ROTS and the HL are working together, now.

I think the poll on one day in conjunction with the writeup on this particular event on the next was an unfortunate coincidence that has people worrying. It isnt really a huge deal anyway, HL and RotS troops fight side by side all the time, this is just the first time the fluff has pointed it out so directly.

funny...if it was 'official' wouldnt they say an official post and not tell us it indirectly?

Or, if you want to be completely speculative, it could mean that the Republic is ending as a faction, not Highlanders - which could explain why the Republic got nothing in this set. Again, just speculation, but I sort of like the idea.

I too found it interesting that the prizes are Highlander units, but the insignia shown in the fluff text is the Republic symbol.

Though I hope they do merge eventually (or at least get the right to formation together), you are jumping the gun by calling it "official".

How many incomplete HL lances are there?

Three lances IIRC. So like 6+ assault/command lance members, 3+ scout/recon types. If we are going anywhere, it wont be any time soon.

Note: this isn't even speculation, just some sleep deprivation induced rambling. It bears some similarity to what others have mentioned, but if anybody tries to take this seriously, I will take a digital picture of my backside and mail it to you. While I think it's quite nice and my girlfriend agrees, most people here are (to my knowledge) not female, gay, or otherwise interested in looking at my hairy butt. Overreact and I will find your address someplace and before you realize what is going on you will have been mooned by mail.

Now...where was I? Oh yeah, hoping that doesn't count as a "threat" or "sexual reference." I swear, if I get warning points for threatening mooning I'll...I don't know but something odd will occur I'm sure.

Anyways, I wouldn't mind if HL and ROTS were both equally cut back and merged as long as there were still distinctly HL pieces and HL and ROTS pieces could be used in a formation. This would be an acceptable way of not quite eliminating factions. The same could be done with BR and Liao, for the same fluff reasons-they've effectively became one. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the Republic just crumble and the Highlanders, who I think have proved themselves to be the baddest mutha-f*****s in that sorry excuse for a military, were the last ones standing and began their own small, independent state centered around Northwind and Terra. But I'm just ranting.

A lot of people are saying that bannson will become part of liao. Now, I've read the book and, it is clear the liao has bannson in their pocket. However, do you really think bannson won't find a way to wrigle out of it? Also, before the book ended, that guy from liao started mentioning another/different deal.

Some people actually do, but about half of those that do get freaked out by how hairy it is. My gf's friend got accidentally mooned a time or three (long story) and when that comes up says little more than "it's so hairy and freaky" in an anguished voice while making strange faces. I suppose I could shave it but it would take one heck of a razor...

As to Bannson, he became a noble of House Liao, or at least is guaranteed a spot as such, by his engagement to a cousin of Daoshen Liao. He is quite independent but Daoshen is no fool and will keep a close eye on him. Bansonn's Raiders are likely to be used in the near future as raiders, living up to their name with various fast, sneaky, semi-covert attacks against targets that the Cappellans want hit but can't spare troops for or don't want it known that CapCon forces actually did the raiding.

Just because the LE's are for a different faction then the ones represented in the campaign that doesn'nt mean anything really. Some of the newer players may not know this but if you look back at the earliest campaign events you'll find a great inconsistency between the story and the prizes to be won. The first campaign had HL vs. DF and the prizes were for the Republic an SC. The next month it was SW vs. SS and the prizes were for SS and BR.

You made sense to me. No not about the mooning, but the faction merger.

I'd speculate further to say that the Republic will be crushed, and those great ROTS Knights in mech with black pajamas will start appearing.
