I just wanted to say this to get it out there as I have never really participated in one of these type threads really. These could be possible fixes for a few problems dealing with some glaring weaknesses due to the existing game mechanics.
Transports:
Transports should only be able to either carry their capacities worth of infantry OR tow units with the same type of speed mode as the Transport itself (i.e. Hover = Hover, Wheeled = Wheeled)
I think it may go a long way in keeping the game honest with units such as the DI Towed...AA Guns...etc. in the company of what they should have always been with...J-37 "ORDANANCE" Transports and Zahn Heavy Transports. Of course...DI Schmitts can still be pulled around by these units and dropped...but hey...you take care of that by saying that units unloaded from a transport cannot attack during the round they were unloaded...that stuff does take time!
Maxims Mk II's can tow hover units around...and all that leaves is Tracked Vehicles...and thats where Garrot Superheavy VTOL's come into the picture!
Of course...I would also make Towed units remain behind the unit towing them at all times as well...those units do still take up space...and I would even consider the defense to hit a towed unit directly related to the towing units defensive value...I mean, how could a Tank with Evade truly evade something when it is locked up to the back of the other unit...it would be the personnel piloting the towing unit that would be responsible for their cargo not getting damaged.
Just a thought on the matter...good or bad...you decide. Later I will post about the CHARGE...I'm sure you all can't wait!
All of that makes perfect sense, and the only thing I would change is that a unit that is being "towed" as opposed to being inside a transport does not take an action token for being "Unloaded", since it is more or less out in the open, and should be able to shoot without penalty.
1. Load the vehicle. Remove from play, cannot be targeted, or affected by damage, cannot take an action during the turn it is unloaded.
2. Tow the vehicle. Vehicle attaches to rear arc of transport, can still be targeted, based, captured, attacked, hit by arty, etc. May take an order when "dropped" from transport.
But why couldn't I fire a towed artillery unit while it is being towed?
And why couldn't a tank that is tethered to a transport be able to fire its weapoons? If it could be hit, why couldn't it shoot back.
And when have you ever seen a vehicle being TOWED faster than it could travel? They put tanks on flatbeds to haul them around.
We can either sit and complain about transports, or accept them and find a strategy that works around them. For myself, I have seen both the benefits of shoving a DF Schmitt into a DF maxim, as well as suffering the loss against a properly prepared player.
Tactics, not rules changes, are my recommendation. And there are anti-tankdrop threads aplenty on these forums.
OK, Arkham_Night, the Tank Drop thing has been argued over this and other websites, practically into the ground. I personally do not approve of it (Maxims are not Tardis's), but the apparent majority does. They argue, with some validity, that without it the big, slow tanks would be unplayable. It is an established game mechanic, it continues on, and guys like us will just have to live with it.... (as he quietly readies his DF Schmitt/SW J-37 combo....)
The Schmitt is slow? Since when is a speed of 10, on a heavy tank, considered slow? The DF version doesn't even have a completely crappy minimum range, so you can toss that aside as well. I don't get it.
who really cares about tank drop anymore? there are ways to counter it and it has been flogged to death. i do not care about tank drop, i use it when i want and do not care if others do because i do have safegaurds in place. go post on another anti-tank drop thread or go and post on the wizkids forrums like you are supposed to with possible rule changes.

I'm going to take a guess that your being sarcastic.
I have seen armored vehicles towed far faster than they'd ever move on thier own. A 113 has a hard time keeping up with a M1, and I've seen many 113's hauled by M1's doing 50.
The flat beding of tanks isn't speed related, but to save on wear and tear.
I completely agree with you that while tank drop can be a force, they are one-trick pony's against anyone that thinks a little.
First off...lt_murgen...dude...come down from the high horse...this isn't a post from some whiny-a$$ed kid who can't take care of people using tank drop. When I still played competitively...instead of BM'd...I did just fine. As for your comment on anti-tank drop threads...this thread isn't exactly about anti tank drop...I think tanks should be pulled, pushed, hung, flown, slingshoted to the moon, or any thing else that can be imagined to move them into position for an attack. Like I said...I haven't participated in many of these so called...anti-anything threads...these are my thoughts here...and the majority of players want tank-drop out of this game...and if you look at the way my post reads maybe you might notice that the DI Schmitt portion looks vaguely like an after thought to those designs which would make players happy.
Anyways...I agree with your statement...sure, anything should be able to be fired while hitched up....but....no expert here...because tanks and artillery weren't my bag of tricks while I was in the military (I jumped out of airplanes instead)...but I remember somewhere a conversation about arty not usually being fired while in a towed position becasue the recoil can damage the devices used to hitch them to a vehicle. Don't quote me on that...but I was under that impression.
Look...I'm a creative thinker here...but I also have common sense. I've seen Hummers tow arty/mortars (wheeled)...treaded units towing other treaded units...tanks, arty, jeeps, etc...hanging from the belly of helicopters whose engines and rotor systems are so loud if you don't wear ear plugs you'd go deaf. I'd give two ####es about Tank drop...I just want to see a little honesty brought back into the game. I can suspend my disbeliefs of 100-ton robots walking across a field shooting at each other...and that this is future-fantasy...but dang...there are just some things that never change...or shouldn't change.
What this post is...is exactly what you may like...TACTICS. I say add a few more changes to the Transports so they are used for what seems to be the glaring and obvious reasons for their design...again with J-37 "Ordinance" Transport. Don't know about you...but "Ordinance" usually refers to an artillery piece and the ammunition and equipment needed to service that unit...makes you wonder why the J-37 and the DI Towed artillery were all released in the same set. Maybe I would like to see a few changes to the Transports that would make you use a bit more Tactics while playing both offensively and defensively. Instead of just any tom, ####, or harry being hooked up to the back of some transport...make the transports actually have some REAL function other than just a Tank Dropper!
I don't know...I may not have even made the point I was trying to get across here...but hopefully I might have. Heck, I don't even have tank-drop problems at my venue...the 20+ kids at my venue are better at sniffing out CHEESE than most of the aging competitive players on these forums. They know stupidity when they see it...besides...the Mech's just LOOK better to them anyways...heck isn't that what it should be about! Anyways...I think my thoughts may have gotten tangled somewhere in this post. i'm only on my first cup of coffee this morning.
lt_murgen...you have valid points. As do all of those who posted, well, except that one guy...h2doh (but I guess he's from Canada...j/k).
Oh yeah...here's one more thing for those who post later on...
If all you think this is, is a complaint about tank drop or an attempt to fix it...just don't even post a reply. Go flame a real Tank-Drop thread. If you can move beyond the adolescant bull...by all means...please post a response.
if you have not noticed "rule change" threads have been removed from mw realms because wizkids wants those rule change thoughts posted on their boards. have you noticed that? fo you care about that? bye, the bye, i wonder when this thread is going to be removed.
