I'm sorry but WizKids really dropped the ball with this one. Here you have the idea of combat engineers, a great idea: you can have infantry with repair or bypass that makes real sense. But I picked up a couple recently and what did I see?
Armor piercing?!?! Flamers?!?! Anti-infantry?!?! PULSE?!?! What are they on about. And with ranges that makes them nigh useless in play any way. Next we'll be seeing Combat Medics with steak missiles an a 2 range! Sorry, guys but for a sneaky, bypassing, underhanded guy like me the fact that such a cool concept has been wasted is painful.
It was my understanding that combat engineers did not only "blow things up" but also build things, such as bridges for the army to cross rivers, roads, airstrips etc etc.
Engineers with repair would make sense, having SE's in attack aren't that bad either.. but they all should be able to repair...
not so sure Combat Medics would be viable infantry repair units.. unless they moved as fast as the units they were trying to repair...
Originally posted by Engineer I'm an engineer and I fix things. At least at work they let me feel like I'm fixing things.
But you're not a combat engineer. I'm sure that, in the middle of a skirmish, combat engineers would be more concerned with destroying things than building them.

Woo Hoo! There are more of us... (12B/18D myself)... I think the SH ones are about the closest with the AnP being "big explosives", satchel charges, quick AnP mines, etc... Not sure where the idea they would be bypass/repair, unless you count our use of the bolt cutter as a "master key" for any vehicle that we happened across :)

Techs fix things. So, until we have a Technician Squad of Medic Squad, we won't have infantry with Repair SE.
Actually they are involved in both construction and demolition, though i will agree that they really aren't the people that would be repairing vehicles/mechs.
I too am disappointed. I wanted the Combat Engineers to be able to blow stuff up. Like, they should be able to plant a pog and detonate with a successive order.
They should also have "Tech Squads" that can repair. Each squad could only repair what their Primary Damage is or something. I'd also like to see "Medics" to repair infantry. That'd be sweet.

As far as bypass is concerned, I just thought that a combat engineer would have more of an idea how to hotwire a mech than Steel Wolf standard foot soldier...
