Focus your firepower - if you engage a Steel Wolf mech, you should either take advantage of the lower starting DV and capture it, concentrate all your fire on killing it, or for those with the predaliction, AP Pog it to death.
Know the units; know how much it will take to get the Wolf to it's sweet spot, and make sure you DON'T HIT IT THERE!
Doesn't leave a lot of room for other vehicles, but 3 DF Schmitt tanks will easily blast those wolves past their sweet spots, most of them anyhow...
And using your own Steel Wolves doesn't hurt either.
You have to hit them so hard that they go PAST there prime, NEVER EVER EVER hit a SW Unit with a Shot if it is going to only do 2-3 damage, Unless you are SURE(like it was just pushed or something) That you can hit it with a follow up shot. Or else you are asking for your own doom lol.
I play against a SW player regularly... man it's a pain in the butt! They have slow speed, so use that against them by getting in rear arcs easy. They also usually have so-so heat, so their mechs need to vent every now and then or they blow up.
-DON'T- take heavy or hardened armored units against them with low damages *cough*highlander*cough*. Almost all their units have AP and reactive armor. Spirit cats are good vs wolves because they have some 16 inch energy weapons - which is out of the usual 6 speed SW charge range.
Watch out for long ranges, most SW have 14" ranges, and two that I know of have 6" ranges. Also, beat the living #### out of their repair vehicals so they don't get to repair right back to the sweet spot.
Be patient, many SW players push and use SU to get closer to the sweet spot. Most of the time they won't hit because of their bad AT early on (many times they don't care if they hit). However, when they do this, it is a lot easier to hit them right passes the prime. wait for them to push once or twice then gang bang one unit to salavge. Rinse and repeat.
Just remember, even though SW get better, you have to do damage to kill them. Don't be afraid to hit them, just be consious of the amount each time so you are sure to throw off their timing.
